Bush's victory was the NARROWEST win for a sitting president since Woodrow Wilson in 1916. Woodrow Wilson did not receive a majority in 1916; W did in 2004!

I believe the Kennedy win over Nixon was much narrower. The requirement Moore puts in place is that it be a "sitting President".
This site confirms cheeseburger's claim.

6. Michigan voted for Kerry! So did the entire Northeast, the birthplace of our democracy Hmmm... I think VIRGINIA may played a minor role in the birth of our democracy, and it went for Bush. Moore is so stupid.

Some pundit said yesterday that he knew the dems would lose as soon as he saw Moore and Jimmy Carter seated together at the dem convention.

I would check out the Truman vs. Dewey Race. 49.8% vs. 45.1%

Wilsons triumph in the Democratic convention of 1912 was not assured, but in the end owed much to former nominee William Jennings Bryan. The main challenge in the campaign came from Theodore Roosevelt, the Bull Moose candidate, who trumpeted his progressive message as the New Nationalism. Wilson responded with a vigorous campaign of his own and dubbed his more restrained form of progressivism as the New Freedom. Both reform candidates recognized that the main issue of the day was the relationship between big business and government. Wilsons whopping electoral victory was somewhat misleading; he received only about 42 percent of the popular vote, but that was sufficient to become the first Democratic president in 20 years.

He may be the "#1 liberal in the Senate" but he tried like hell not to appear to be one.

There ya go..I though much the same when I saw Carter ( the worst president in US history ) sitting with that fat slob. What the hell were they thinking ? Yep MM helped Bush win..I say we push that slogan till Moore dies of shame or his comrads stab him in the back .
To: Agrarian
Yep....but you're talking to a lot of deaf ears here.

Five more African Americans were elected as members of Congress, including the return of Cynthia McKinney of Georgia. It's always good to have more blacks in there fighting for us and doing the job our candidates can't. My question for Moore is: Can you wear your baseball cap and your Klan hood at the same time. His comment is the most patronizing bit b.s. I've ever heard. Way to talk to people who JUST HAPPEN TO BE BLACK there, fatty.
To: Agrarian
Given that the president won't have to try to appease anyone to keep their vote any longer, look for his agenda to move to the right dramatically. When he does that, and his policies are shown to be effective both economically and socially, the Rats are done. For generations.
I'd like to see MM dropped from the tail ramp of a C-130 on a HANO jump over Fallujah. (Yes, HANO.) Wonder what his terminal velocity is?

Clint N. Suhks (Clever!),
That song is on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack. I got that CD three years ago, and still have not removed it from my five-disk changer. It's one of the greatest albums ever.
To: Agrarian
They (hispanics) need to break 50-50 for it to be a wash, and I hope you're right that we're on our way to that. The actual numbers go like this: 35% of Hispanics voted for Bush in 2000; 42% in 2004. That's a 7 point increase. If this trend continues, the Republicans will be near your magic number of 50%.
For verification of the positive trend, check out this thread: A major increase in Latino votes for Bush

"Some pundit said yesterday that he knew the dems would lose as soon as he saw Moore and Jimmy Carter seated together at the dem convention."
During the speech I kept waiting for them to cut to Moore and see Jimmy Carter gone, while Moore licked his fingers...
To: kcvl
Thanks. For some reason, I had forgotten about old Teddy and his Bull Moose. It is odd how many of these close races involved a third party candidate.
