They haven't screwed things up enough yet.......
Edwards sure messed with FRL players today :-)
Yeah, Steve beat me with Schrader. LOL
Why was this not found in PRE-RACE inspection ????
That and post should be the same except for engine teardown.
Jr or not this is getting ABSURD.
I'm really hoping since they said "over the weekend" that it was pre race inspection. I think Eury will be fined for it don't you?
A thinner windshield would mean less weight on the car, and when these guys are fighting for every fraction of an inch, it might make some difference. But I'm not knowledgeable enough to say if it could affect the outcome of a race. The other thing it might do is make the cockpit of the car less safe for the driver, and that's something none of us (in our right minds) wants. So it's OK by me of NASCAR fines them, but I would definitely not want them to take away driver's points.
Dale Earnhardt Jr's radio chatter:
Radio chatter was kept to a minimum until a steady drizzle brought out the caution on lap 106 and then a 23-minute red flag. A pit stop under this caution knocked Junior from first to fifth.
Dale Jr.: I was just taking it easy up front. I can race em if you want me to.
Tony Eury Jr. (car chief): Just keep doing what you were doing.
Dale Jr.: This (thing) took off there at the start!
Tony Jr.: 10-4, she was humpin!
Dale Jr.: Its nice when you can jump up there and take a nice lead and not have to work so hard. Right before the rain started when I was out front, I was just cruising.
Steve Hmiel (spotter): Bring her down pit road (because of the red flag).
Dale Jr.: Might be a big spell (of rain) coming. Alrighty, well get a little break here. Thats cool.
Steve: Tony Jr., Im gonna shut my radio off.
Dale Jr.: Later, Steve.
During the fourth caution on lap 127:
Dale Jr.: Who wrecked? Anyone interesting?
Steve: The 42 spun out, and several others spun trying to miss him. Looks like nobody has any major damage. (Several laps later) Well June, it looks like the 97 (Busch) and 42 (McMurray) are coming back in. They ran into each other on pit road.
Dale Jr.: Yeahhhhh! Theyre tearin em up!
Steve: Not enough.
With Dale Jr. in third when the ninth caution flew, a decision had to be made on whether to pit for tires with just a few laps remaining:
Tony Jr.: Staying out, Junebug.
Dale Jr.: WHAT!? Were gonna get our butts kicked.
Tony Jr.: You can pit if the 24 pits, but youre pretty fast. Youve got 30 (laps) to go, and youll be taking the green with 25. Youre easily three-tenths of a second faster than everybody else, and it still took you 40 laps to go from 11th to third. Those guys with new tires will be in 10th, at the very least, and will be caught up in all that traffic. Well be in good shape here.
During the second red-flag of the day, just a handful of laps from the end, Driver #8 began to get impatient:
Dale Jr.: Ive had enough racing for today. Im ready to get it over with.
Steve: Im going to get in trouble. My momma makes me come in when the street lamps come on.
Dale Jr. (to nobody in particular): Come on! Im ready to go! It aint even raining hard enough to stop the race. Lets go and get this thing over with. Just two laps.
After taking the checkers for his 15th career victory:
Dale Jr.: Whooo! I love winning, especially here. I dont know why. Just awesome!
Today's Stats
Started: 14th
Finished: 1st (sixth win of season and 15th of Dale Jr.s career)
Led: 3 times for 118 laps
Money: $274,503
Points: 3rd (-47 behind Kurt Busch)
Best Pit Stop: Stop 1 of 4 / Lap 77 / four tires and fuel / 12.54 seconds
I just had a feeling with Schrader this week. Now, who to take for Darlington....
Bo, the Sharp Eyed Labrador picked FR Joe and got me a fourth place finish for Sundays race. He is sulking because I overruled him and took Smoke over Flash.
Trust the dog :-)
Well I'm taking Schrader. LOL

News
Rumors have abounded that Ward Burton might be out of the No. 0 Gene Haas ride as early as this week at Darlington.
Views
If he is indeed out of the ride, Mike Bliss is rumored as his replacement.

Bummer if true..
Dang, hate to hear this for the southern Burton.
If they gave him good equipment every week he'd be in contention!!
I heard Eury Sr send someone down to his pits Sunday to see what broke in the gear.
It would be interesting to go back and see how many DNF's they've had due to engine or mechanical problems.
Now, according to the other thread running yesterday it looks like Smith & Wesson is looking to hire a team for their new car which will run part time next year. Seems as though there are several drivers looking for jobs now, one other being Mr Excitement himself Spencer. lol
Yep when the car is set up properly he's a wild man behind the wheel, no one can beat him. Eury Sr and Jr both had to calm him down during both the race and the red flag period. He really wanted to pit on that last caution but Eury Sr convinced him it was wrong to pit because he would not be able to make up the positions lost before the race ended.
I haven't seen any news printed yet on the windshield infraction. However, there is scuttlebutt out that it will only be a $$ fine by Na$car.
There was something reported to have been said by Jeff Hammond that if the entire piece of Lexan came in to DEI in that thickness it may not be a penalty. But they would have to prove to Nascar that they didn't tamper with the thickness themselves after cutting it I guess.
It was confiscated in prerace inspection so it should only be a monetary penalty probably for the crewchief.
I think that page of Trackpass is only up to the Phoenix race. If you click on the standings link above it gives you the current order.
Darlington should be a fun race ending under the lights. The question is how many of the chase contenders will get a Darlington stripe or even worse wind up in a wreck??
Good Morning Sweetie
Thank you!!
They are almost as beautiful as the real ones you gave me the other day. ;-)
Mini Nascar Ping........
Tony Eury Sr., crew chief for the No. 8 Chevrolet of driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., was fined $2,500 for violating Section 12-4-A (Actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 12-4-Q (Any determination by NASCAR Officials that the car, car parts, components and/or equipment used in the Event do not conform to NASCAR rules) for having a windshield on the car that was not an approved part and also did not meet the minimum required thickness of one-quarter inch.
The infraction was discovered by NASCAR officials during opening-day inspection
And this..
NASCAR lifts ban on liquor sponsorship

No FRench wine coolers , Please ... ;-)
So now it's on to the last two races in which I hope Busch has trouble and the championship is settled among the three guys who ran the best ALL year: Junior, JJ and Jeff.
