That only works if you ignore WHY the angels were sent, doesn't it?
In Genesis 18 God explains: "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know." (Verses 20, 21.) It isn't specified what the sins of Sodom were. When the angels visit Lot (Chapter 19), the crowd gathers around Lot's house and demands to have sex with the visitors (the angels). Based on this, it has become traditional to assume that homosexuality was the special sin of Sodom. This is logical in that homosexuality is prohibited in Leviticus and elsewhere. But the sin here goes beyond homosexuality -- the primary sin here is abusing the vulnerable (travelers threatened with gang rape), and presumably the sins enumerated in Ezekiel 16:49.
If you still think the issue here (in Genesis 19) is consensual homosexual sex, consider verses 7 - 9: Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing. Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof. "Get out of our way," they replied. And they said, "This fellow came here as an alien, and now he wants to play the judge! We'll treat you worse than them."
