Wouldn't that still make the margin in the Senate too thin?
Does legislation have to carry like 2/3 of the Senate or is that the House?
Theoretically, it's a simple majority, but in reality the Senate needs 60 votes to get anything done, cuz of threats of filibusters. And we're still shy of the 60 votes by 5, so Snow and Chaffee are of no real value -- especially if they can't be counted on when push comes to shove. Good riddance.
