WHADDAYA NUTS? RI is even more unabashedly stoopid than my Bay State.. nobody's going to vote Chafee out, they don't even know who he is!! All politics is local per Tip O'Neill!!... these maroons are still operating on that 80's mode! God save the Republic from L'il Rhody!!

"Specter did not need to clarify his remarks."

He better do some "clarifying" for what he said to the Philly paper and the P'burgh P-G. He has been threatening, maybe only blustering to get what he wants. (Wanted and got the endorsements of those two left wing rags by saying Bush's extremist nominees would not get by him.) Now he wants everybody to look the other way and let him have that chairmanship so he can screw things up good.

I'm not a friend or defender of Arlen Specter, as I thought I made clear. But I would like you to produce for me what it is that he said. Seriously. This is Old Media trying to cause Republican infighting.

And as for my other remarks, I reaffirm: Specter is NOT Lincoln Chafee, period.

Sadly, I think Hagel was just re-elected in '02. So we've got 4 more years of the worm. But at the end of that time, "Chuck" Hagel becomes our motto ... with "chuck" being a verb.

I hope you're right! Is Salazar really a conservative Democrat or did he merely run as conservative to get elected? I hope he turns out to be a good guy!

I guess I'm always suspicious after putting up with Senator Jim (conservative in Tennessee/liberal in Washington) Sasser here from 1976 thru 1994. LOL!

Hagle does not face voters until 2008. Maybe he will by then be running on a "fusion" ticket with Hillary.

One lesson of Tuesday was that the entire Northeast is solidly Democratic.

Good point. It was sort of fun seeing NH go for Kerry. Why? because NH prides itself as "independent," "discerning," "first-in-the-nation," etc. Of course, it is the best of the eastern states politically, but it was wrong in 2004, and NH people don't like to be wrong.

Don't think of this as a bad thing. We need to start showing that there is a difference between the 2 parties. We will have a truly conservative party to compete with the truly liberal one.

Voters will get to choose between bigger government or smaller government instead of which party has the best big government program.

It is interesting to note that Brit Hume made mention of Specter's remarks being taken out of context and blown out of proportion. Thanks for clarifying this guy's record. I'm new to his agenda and will fight to keep him from becoming Chairman of the JC. What are our chances of defeating this appointment? I've emailed the President and Frist. What else can I do?

Yep. They will vote against us anyway, so why allow them the "cover" of being in the party?

That's fine. Let's expose these RINOs and give them all the rope they need to hang themselves now so we can take care of business later.

Good!
No committee leadership positions for this liberal!

Lincoln Chafee is old and in the way so he just might switch. This must be his last term so he feels free to do crazy stuff that his younger staffers will egg him on to do.

EGO EGO EGO. And being able to brag and look good at liberal cocktail parties.

Brit rules! His show is the best on TV (and I don't limit that to just news).

If you're a registered Republican, you can e-mail the RNC. This will have more impact if you're also a contributor. Chances of defeating him aren't good, but that's no reason not to fight.
