Ernie Fletcher, the governor of Kentucky, could be a candidate for replacing him.

Red Alert! Red Alert!

I think we have discovered Dan Rather's secret FReepName.

Just because I stole something from Blather doesn't make me Blather :-)

Give me some time to hit RatherBiased and I can dig up a few more obscure Blatherisms.

I think he realizes it's a job that will never end. Whoever has that job is going to have to be one tough bub.

Was Thompson a RINO? Fiscally speaking when he was the governor of my state he seemed a little too loose with the budget. Socially he is more conservative. I fault him though for leaving the republican party here in Wisconsin a shambles. Now we are stuck here with Comrade Doyle and his Union buddies.

You know, I'd consider Giuliani for Secretary of State. A hard-nosed prosecutor who knows how to drain the swamp and kill the gators is just what that agency needs. ;)

It has been a very, very tough four years and my sense is that a number of Cabinet members would like to get on with their lives in less stressful and/or more lucrative jobs.

That's essentially what the President said in his presser today--that people burn out. He called it "a great Washington sport to speculate on who's in and who's out."

Rummy will not leave until Iraq is finished.

How is that his fault?

He should run for his old job and get rid of Ed "Don't county the military ballots" Rendell.

Not a serious loss.

I've heard rumors that Rudy might be considered for Att General. I'd rather he go to Homeland Security if he's going to join the cabinet.

Rummy wants to stay. I want Rummy to stay. I want Rice to stay in the 2nd term, perhaps taking Powell's place.

Powell was a perfect fit for the denizens of the State Department.

We need someone STRONG to clean out that den of snakes.

Months ago on a radio show in Wisconsin, Tommy Thompson basically said that he probably would not return for a 2nd term.

In fact there was a push to try and get him back here last year to run against Feingold, but he said that he would fulfill this term, and think about Wisconsin politics in the future. He loves being a politician, and I don't think he ever really liked his job much. He and President Bush were good friends, and I think it was a loyalty thing.

And just what war did Powell win before?

He was all for stopping the Gulf War.

I liked Tommie Thompson, the trouble is that job is like a traffic cop's job - no recognition, not like the NARCs.

I wish the ax would finally fall on the last Clinton holdover in Transportation.

Ashcroft as done a fine job. So sad that he has been demonized by the press. He is a man of sterling character. Rasciot (sp?) was W's first choice for AG. I think W was a but stunned when Mark refused the gig. It would have been interesting to see what the press would have done with Rasciot.

Regarding Homeland Security, Tom Ridge is leaving and I think his replacement will be Bernie Kerik. I think having an ex-cop as the HS chief, will be a great move. He'll revamp the color coding system. Many local law enforcement officials have been at odds with HS. An ex-cop will be great at the HS helm.
