If there's one thing we can learn from Bill Clinton, it's that the campaign is never over.

The RNC needs to start campaigning against the Hildabeast right now, and we need to pick out a few peoplewe want to run in '08 and start vetting them/promoting them.

Ah yes, the Hogtown Fishwrapper and Cage Liner. Actually I'm amazed they ran a cartoon like this, when I was in Gainesville they resembled Pravda and the Independent Daily Agitator (Alligator, UF student paper) was only good for the fast food coupons and emergency outhouse uses!

True enough. I would like to see some evolution of his politics, but Rudy has the potential to be very popular. He is a good man with great credentials. The South is ours. Rudy could open up the Mid-West, get back NH and attack the west Coast (California?). He is smart, principled and a very strong leader with proven ability to get things done. He is easily the front runner.

McCain scares me and I think he would end up being a loser candidate. Plus, I don't think he is trustworthy -- a bit too calculating.

Condi Rice has got a huge upside potential, but needs experience (Gov of Cal? Problem with Aunold.)

Jeb. Non-starter for me. Not nearly the personality of his Brother.

Pataki lacks the personality.

I think the cupboard is pretty bare after that (and maybe including that.) But Rudy has the broadest appeal.

Governors do well in presidential elections because they have had experience at the nearest job to the Presidency, I would guess that the same would apply to a former Mayor of a city as large as New York. Mayor Giuliani sounds like a hard candidate to beat, but he would dishearten at least some of the conservative base, and if Sen. Clinton is running that will get the Rat base out very strongly.

True. The Dim base is not much good by itself. Rudy would be able to appeal to the middle without much alienating the base. It is possible that Roe v. Wade will be much different (that is a states issue.) That is his biggest disadvantage to the base. But, even a lot of Liberals believe in Rudy not because he is liberal, but because he is seen as smart (something no Republican since Nixon has accomplished) and effective. I am not in favor of it if it means tilting Rockefeller. Rudy has earned a chance to shake that title.
