Fox was okay but they need to tweek their format. I think people are watching because people know they will be "fair and balanced" with the Republicans. It was boring though. Need to spice it up a bit.
Ouch. That's gonna leave a mark.
I watched NBC (with an hour break to watch the Daily Show special). Didn't get any better than Tim Russet with the Telestrator.
Dan Rather has completely lost it, as far as I'm concerned.
Fox had the guts to call Ohio first for Pres. Bush. It was monumential! NBC called it about an hour after, the other weenie networks have all lost their credibility. I wonder what the Nielsen rating is for CBS on election day.
I do not understand why Fox Broadcast Network does not daily compete with the other broadcast networks. They would dominate every night. That equals ratings. Which equals commercials. Which equals revenues. It also means much happier citizens who cannot afford cable television.
For the 2008 or 2012 elections, will there still be any such thing as Broadcast News Networks?
Fox was boring. Britt and the Allstars fumbled around with trying to figure out what was happening with actual results vs exit poll propaganda. They should have just leveled with us right up front that their exit info was way off base and then used prior polling and actual results. The result of their effort was not calling SC, NC and VA when they could easily have been called for Bush. They need to improve their graphics too. I want to see the map, and not just an endless scroll of results. I feel that Fox let us down and they should apologize. To their credit they did quit using the faulty polling. Still waiting to hear when criminal investigation of that is going to begin, or even be pushed by the networks.
while the MNM were calling BUSH - FOX was still calling kerry!
Like oreilly, FOX crawled to the knees of the elite N.E. leftists
Uh...there were ~other~ networks?....:)
Not bad considering Brit Hume was barely intelligible after about 11pm EST.
once they pulled the plug on the exit polls data they were the first to call Ohio!! and the election
Fox coverage on Special Report told me all I needed to know about the rest of the night's coverage, and I didn't feel like killing another TV.
IMHO Fox was a bit cowardly. They refused to give Nevada to Bush until word of Kerry's concession came down. Clearly they were afraid to call the election for Bush out of a fear of being branded the GOP Channel. But facts are facts, and that is what the news channels are supposed to report. If Bush won Nevada report it. It has nothing to do with a potential contest over Ohio.
I thought FOX was horrble Tuesday night. I was watching the roundtable and thought it was a eulogy for Bush. They got totally tricked by the exit polls, they should have known they would be worthless.
I honestly felt FNC was as good or better than the others in terms of level of discussion and "freshness." Fox DID post Ohio first, followed by NBC, the others never did.
The single highest value of FNC was their graphics. They rolled through all states constantly, showing various race results.
As a counter example, CBS apparently didn't show ANY senate races in-progress at the bottom of the screen, only those they had declared...so to see/hear anything about SD/Daschle, you had to wait until they felt like talking about (and I never did hear them do that while I was on their channel).
I thought Cokie Roberts looked and sounded awful and even George Will didn't seem terribly involved. But again, maybe only during those brief periods I checked in.
The MSNBC women seemed to still be wearing fright makeup from halloween and only Joe Scarborough was worth a listen. IMO.
I thought FOX did a horrible job. I really liked the NBC coverage, say what you want about Russert, but the man knows how to handle a fast moving political story. Thought it was a good job by Brokaw as well.
I was particularly displeased to see FNC's Chris Wallace continually push the "internals" of the fake exit polls. It was ridiculous.
I watched Fox (not Fox News) and enjoyed Shep Smith. I briefly checked out the other MSM stations but abandoned them when their bias became evident.
I switched back and forth between FOX and MSNBC (Chrissy Matthews). I first tuned in to FOX and was surprised at how dour Hume and the rest were, which I thought was weak and unprofessional. Also, FOX's graphics and layout were naot as easy to look at and decifer as MSNBC's was, so I ended up spending more time watching MSNBC. Besides, when it started looking good for the President, I wanted to see the stammering and stuttering, and the "deer in the headlights" look on the faces of Chrissy and the rest! Then again, it was fun to see demonRAT whacko and "know-it-all" (Brit pissed her off by saying this to her - albeit in a joking way), Susan Estrich have a meltdown! What a raving BITCH! Altogether, I had a good time watching the returns until about 5:30 am, then a little sleep, and up at 7.
