Besides, they cling to the hope in Nixon who lost once, waited, returned and won.
I agree....I am glad he spared us the agony. A selfless gesture? Not even close. An obligation.
Do I doubt Kerry and the dems would have subjected us to a repeat of Election 2000? Not for a New York minute. If a victory was close but not realized, if the numbers were crunched and they still came up short, they still would have pulled out the stops trying to win this in the courts.
I would credit Karl Rove, Ed Gillespi and the rest of the Bush Team for being prepared for endless legal challenges. That preparation may have stopped the funny business we saw in Florida, Missouri and other states in 2000.
I fear Al Gore had set a new standard. We dodged the bullet this time, but I am not so sure about the next time. Edwards, lawyer that he is, was prepared to fight this all of the way.
Perhaps he was hoping for that much hyped tie the media gravely placed before us.
My scenario:
Bush elected President by the Senate
Edwards elected by the House as VP.
Edwards relegated to that VP No Man's Land.
Cheney appointed to Cabinet Post.
Game Set Match
They sure make Jenna and Barbra look good.
Bon Jovi and Springsteen will be playing county fairs within five years. Their core audience is now in their 40's and 50's, and these aging rockers have virtually no relevance to the MTV crowd of today.
Look how knock kneed the blond is.
Whoa. What ugly paps!
No sh*t. That or sit around the house with you know who.
ROFLMAO!!
Someone ought to post this picture in DUmmieland with the caption "May I present your president, Al Gore!"
Family values ...
I was watching Fox & Friends this morning and they reported some of the behind-the-scenes behavior of Kerry, etc. during the campaign. Not a pretty picture for sure. I'm looking forward to reading the stories in Time and Newsweek. It will be interesting to see who Kerry blames for his loss. He was so ready to blame everyone else for fiascos during the campaign, who will he blame now that he's lost? Certainly not himself. He's not big enough to admit that he was the biggest part of the problem.
And Dan Quayle was publically flogged for his discussion of "family values"
"Kerry lost ohio because he OUTSOURCED his GOTV efforts to 527 groups like moveon.org"
Yeah, I guess his PLAN wasn't so great.
And he wold have been one of the few grownups in his cabinet. That is what really frightened me.
I think Al Gore really really wanted to win. I think Kerry did, too, but deep down, knew he never would, but I think Gore really thought he would win. He is just a broken bitter fat slob now who has been consumed by hate whereas Kerry will survive because deep down he knew he wouldn't actually win. I think even getting the nomination surprised him. I'm sure he had to wonder why Dean was taken down and the nomination was suddenly his. He was bound to know how that happened and what it meant. Also I think the dims actually had all their hopes in Al Gore and his failure to live up to their expectations are a constant source of embarrassment to him.
Except when you hear the rest of the story. Fox & Friends reported some of his comments during the campaign, as reported by a Newsweek writer. Earlier this year when Bush was surpassing him in the polls, Kerry said something like: "I can't believe this idiot [the President] is polling higher than me." Also, apparently Kerry was much more aggressive in his pursuit of John McCain. At one point called and offered McCain the job of being in control of the State Dept. and Defense as well. McCain said no, adding that he didn't even think that was constitutionally possible. After they hung up, Kerry said: "I can't believe he F-ing refused my offer." And during the Swift Boat Vets controversy, Kerry told this reporter: "It's all a bunch of F-ing lies."
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the stories that will be coming out.
He's Mama T's gigolo. That's probably a full time job.
No! You're kidding! Why, when I look at the Kerry daughters, I see nothing but class.
