Hey, ya all! We have a BIG senate race coming up in 2006, to try and get rid of Maria Cantwell. I'm wondering what the Washington FReeper consensus is for considering recruiting Alan Keyes to come out here and run as our Republican Candidate? Thoughts?

Go for it. He did such a wonderful job in Illinois.

Good grief, are these results being transferred by carrier pidgeon? I've never seen states so slow in counting ballots. The counting is a time-consuming process. I've been down to King County's station and seen it. One of the elements that shows it down is that every signature on the ballot envelope is checked against the registration signature (they appear to key in the name, or a code, from the envelope and the signatute appears on the screen).

The Rossi campaign has put out a call for observers to watch the counting.

An awful lot of voting here is by absentee -- I think LibreOuMort said something like 50%.

The rest of the state should secede and leave King County on its own.

Um. Before you do that, would you please help us divide King County into Seattle and Cedar County? Those of us on the Eastside and beyond are rather sick and tired of those thieves in Seattle.

Hey - I'm in Dave Reicherts base and I want out of the socialistic Seattle circle too!! We are very seriously considering selling our home and moving to Pierce.

On another note - I volunteered for the 47th precinct on election night, and one volunteer reported that out of 367 votes 147, were provisional. It was called in as an "alarming incident". The reponse they got, from what I heard was that if races were close enough, it might be investigated.

On a happier note, of the 800,000 absentees to be counted, less than 1/4th are reported to be from King County.

YES!...It would be nice to be known for the state where a Republican got elected in a sea of radical socialists instead of the home of the 20 foot high statue of Lenin in Fremont!....

I know. In this state, sweeping cultural change won't happen overnight, but we need to at least try... Maybe we could let the liberals be the frog in the boiling water for a while and see how THEY like it ;0)

Of course the people in this state voted for it - the majority of the 'rats WANT a system where two democrats face off in the general election - it's what they WANT. Either way, they win.

I don't like it, and would love to find a way to get rid of it ASAP...

I'd love to see Jennifer Dunn run for Senate, but I doubt she will. Her retirement was why her district opened up to begin with. She'd be good, but I think we will need to look elsewhere...

If Alan Keyes comes and runs in this state...I will vote for Cantwell. I can't stand a carbetbagger. Our newly-re-elected Congresscritter Inslee is a carbetbagger and he won't leave.

I don't know. We don't know what part of King County is being counted. Rossi is from Sammamish and that is part of King County too. It all depends on how the votes fall. I am cautiously optismistic because he won Snohomish County which has been trending Democrat. I think that he may just ekk this out. Even if it doesn't trigger a recount automatically. The GOP can still ask for one if they pay for it. I say if behind by 1 1/2% concede graciously and campaign like all get out against Cantwell. He will make a very viable candidate against Cantwell who is not really liked much by her own party.

Chad, do you think we could turn the heat up real quick so they hop away instead?

Hasn't a suit been filed against it? I seem to recall reading that somewhere.

Also, isn't it an option for the parties to choose their candidates by other means -- say, in convention? I'd love to see two Democrats and one Republican on the ballot for every partisan position.

I worked in the early 70s in Seattle and have a very conservative nephew (former Navy) living in Bremerton.
Whatever you observe about King County can be said about any of the metropolitan counties throughout the country.
With such a large % of population in urban/suburban areas, it is critical for Repubs everywhere to crack the nut of Dem dominance inside cities.
If we can do that starting with 2006 we will be in better shape for 2008 and get rid of these razor thin margins.

Best of Luck to you Freepers. You are phenomenal people!

ROTFL. That would be nice. The problem is, there is a year-long waiting list for them to get refugee status in Canada ;0)

That would be sweet. Let the 'rats split each other's votes, while the republican takes it all LOL

I see no problem with this. Somehow we have to get the word out that they shouldn't wait -- they need to apply NOW! (Like, before the hammer falls?)

OTOH, how long does it take to apply simply to immigrate? I seem to recall that New Zealand's procedures take only a couple of months or so.

Good idea. Maybe we need some yard signs, bumper stickers, and t-shirts and stuff that urge our disgruntled leftist neighbors that seeking refugee status in Canada is the right thing to do, and they should start now to avoid the rush ;0)

Well, Don't hold your breath for a Rep. Gov. Pierce, Thurston, King and Snohomish Counties will see to it that they get a Dem, regardless of what the rest of the state wants. To many indians and minorities in those counties to override the will of the rest of the state.
