A Conservative Country
Newsmax | 11/03/04 | John LeBoutillier

Posted on 11/03/2004 11:33:03 AM PST by KJacob

President Bush has won a decidedly larger victory than anyone - me included - predicted.

The popular vote difference is a testament to the pro-Bush passion of Republicans, conservatives, evangelicals and others worried over terrorism, liberalism and permissiveness. My vaunted theory of the Passion Differential did not happen. Instead, the pro-Bush passion outvoted the anti-Bush passion.

The anti-left, anti-Massachusetts liberalism passion came out in a huge outpouring of votes for GW Bush - and against John Kerry.

And at the same time, the GOP picked up four crucial Senate seats and even increased their ruling majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

We even saw the end of Tom Daschle, the Senate Democratic leader.

This was a banner night for the Republican Party.

My own feeling is muted: I am ecstatic over Republican gains in the Congress, but I have a long-running problem with Team Bush - especially the former President and his cronies (many of whom serve in this Administration).

The first President Bush has been and still is complicit in the abandonment and cover-up of our U.S. POWs left behind (when he was CIA Director) in Vietnam, Laos and Russia.

The lies from this crew have been - and still are - shocking. The deceptions and perfidious behavior are disgraceful.

His son has carried on his father’s policies - thus my antipathy toward his Administration.

Of course, John Kerry and John McCain were directly involved in this cover-up. Kerry is an awful, evil, devious creature - and McCain is perhaps the worst person I have ever encountered in my political life.

Today is not a day to write about the POW issue - and the government’s cover-up; that is for another column on another day.

Today is for analyzing the results - and figuring out what they mean.

Those results prove we are a conservative country - and that the Democrat Party is hopelessly out-of-touch with America.

Hillary in 2008? Well, do you honestly believe she could do better than Kerry? Or will the conservatives come out to defeat her even more heartily than they did yesterday?

It is a truly conservative country. And for that we should be grateful.

Weekly barf from LeBoutillier. Funny how today it does not bother me. Remember the day before the election he predicted a high turnout was bad for Bush. I guess that is how you become a commentator.

Here's the latest USA Today map, and if you click on the link you can compare the 2000 results with the 2004 election: USA Today.

LeBoutillier was nothing but anti-Bush doom and gloom for the last 18 months. Now he is admitting that he was full of sh*t the whole time and didn't know what he was talking about. "Passion differential" indeed. I think he hoped Bush would lose! Newsmax ought to can the guy and make room for someone more insightful, and less consumed by their grudge against the Bush family.

Wonder what President Bush will first propose to reward his conservative supporters?

It's true that GWHB did some things that he should not have done, although I believe he did them in what he thought was the service of his country, not for personal gain or to service corrupt friends.

But GWB is not his father. We should not expect him to publicly repudiate his father. What kind of a man would do that? But he will not repeat the mistakes his father made.

I'm looking forward to a great second term.

I'm not so sure that we are truly a conversative country just based on the election results. For instance, there are approximately 216M Americans of voting age. W got roughly 58.5M votes...using Miss Crozier's math, that's only 27% of those who felt strongly enough to support Bush and the conservative agenda with a vote. 73% either don't support it or need further convincing. Our work is cut out for us.

1) It's hard to beat an incumbent president during a time of war.

2) Kerry chased away the vets, Catholics, and anyone pro-defense.

3) Many votes for Bush were really votes against Kerry.

4) No one should gloat over a conservative win when many conservatives don't like Bush's spending, position on illegal immigration, huge expansion of the government.

The most important observation of this election is that the honest votes were able to overcome the ballot box stuffing of the urban Democrats. This needs to be fixed soon, or its all over for our republic->mobocracy.
