thanks for the post dan. oakland county surprised me. what happened? why did it go blue (hard to say as an msu alumn)?

Oakland's been blue since 96.

The biggest reason is Southfield, Oak Park, and Pontiac.

Oakland has been trending Democrat due to demographic changes. There is a large Jewish community (normally Democrat)but a huge "Jews for George" organization so I hoped for a better showing. Macomb County was also not as strong for W as I expected from the '02 Governor's election percentages and from the preponderance of lawn signs.
