So if I work hard and save my after tax money then I get taxed AGAIN when I spend it? Not saying I have the answer, but that appears to be double taxation to me.

No - I am saving that no income tax at all - all consumption tax. That way EVERYONE pays.

Think about it now, you have nannies, etc. now that do not pay. Everyone should pay.

The idea is there would be NO income tax - abolition of the 16th Amendment would be required.

No, they don't tax your money when you earn, only when you spend it. And you get a consumption allowance, as well.

Read the proposals.

"So if I work hard and save my after tax money then I get taxed AGAIN"

But with a national sales tax you wouldn't be taxed at the 'employment' level, just on what you spend, thus no "AGAIN".

The idea is to replace the withholding tax with a flat sales tax. This would be a tax on consumption; income tax is a tax on production.

Got bad news for you, that is what is happening to you now.

DO YOU PAY YOUR INCOME TAX
AT THE SUPERMARKET?

by D. Sherman Cox J.D. L.L.M. Taxation

Under an NRST, all federal income and payroll taxes would be eliminated removing the front end taxation. Any money placed/retained in savings and investment would not be taxed. Under an NRST nothing is taxed until spent on new goods or services.

You already ARE being taxed when you spend money after you save it. The nrst doesn't increase the tax you pay when you purchase things... it just makes the tax visible and apparent on the receipt.

No.

There wouldn't BE any Income Tax taken out of your pay - it would go into your pocket for YOU to decide how you spend it. You wouldn't pay on food and necessities - and you would control what you buy/spend. AND you wouldn't have to contend with the IRS...

That already occurs. Some types of income can be taxed four times: a company makes money, pays income taxes on it. They pay it to you, a stockholder, as dividends, and you get socked for income taxes on it. Then you die, and leave it to your son, and he pays inheritance taxes on it. Then he spends some of it to buy gasoline for his car, and pays federal gas taxes on it. You already pay social security taxes on income withheld from you for SS, and then whoever gets it pays income taxes on it, too. The system is already incredibly unfair.

Replacing all this unfairness with a one-time, you will now pay federal sales taxes on money you have already been taxed on, is still unfair, but much less so in the grand scheme of things.
