Retired Marine weeping on Dennis Prager show
Dennis Prager show

In probably the most poignant moment I have ever heard on talk radio, a retired Marine was weeping on the Dennis Prager show this morning.
He was choking on tears when he told Dennis that Dennis had been doing the Lord's work. Then, he asked Dennis if this finally meant that the Vietnam veterans had been vindicated. He could barely get that out. Dennis assured him that such was indeed the case.
Finally, these brave men who gave so much and were trashed by a traitor have been welcomed home.
Dennis admitted that he cried twice today in great relief that our country has been saved. The South and the values of Middle America made the difference. He went on to say that the North once saved our Union; now the South will save it.
This was the most important election of my lifetime. No matter how old you are, it is probably the same with you.

It is time for the Texas FReepers to organize a FReep of support and gratitude at John O'Neill's office.

Oh, I missed it. Just turned Dennis on right before I read your post. Maybe he will have it on his recaps at the end of the week. Thanks for recounting it for us.

"The youth are turning conservative. At least that is what I am seeing."
Yesterday, after I voted (sticker on shirt) the cashier said: "Hey, I voted, too." She was probably 18, raspberry dyed hair with mousey blonde roots and had a nose ring and tattoo visible on her neck. I thought that she was a Kerry supporter for sure. She followed with: "It was a hard decision for me, but I voted for Bush."
I followed with, "Outstanding",smiled on the way out.

"I too suspected that if Kerry had won, God had indeed lifted his hand from our country."
My husband and I, too, believed that. Our prayers were frequently for God's mercy for America, since we don't deserve His blessings considering the decadence that has overtaken us. He heard the prayers of His people, and has given us another chance; I pray we don't squander it.

Sisters 4 Bush are considering the trip again. Wouldn't it be great if we could bring along our Viet Nam Vet brother?

Thanks for the great feedback and kind words. I still have a couple hundred more of them. They could be collector's items. :)

I heard it too, retired marine called the Prager show, began talking than could not continue. Prager handled it with great humanity and mentioned that he had cried twice that day. ( whether he really did cry did not matter, it was a compassionate gesture to put the caller at ease).
The marine than asked if the vets like him were vindicated. Prager said yes, than talked about Kerry and his attitude towards men like the caller.
It was emotional, and talk radio as its best. Prager is a very decent guy.

You folks in Ohio are so important today, I can't find the words. Please accept my gratitude, all of you, and each of you. Tears fall down my cheeks.

Everyone, I agree, there is SOME closure here to that horrible chapter in America's history. But it simply is not the case that the abominations directed at the Vietnam veteran (and ANY military action in defense of freedom and America) are over. Here's what I posted to another thread:
I remember seeing the hippies and protesters when I was a child. I remember the sense of grime and loathing that emanated from them. As I came to maturity, I came to despise their anti-Americanism, their selfishness, the constant arrogance and taking for granted the blessings of God and of their fellow countrymen that protected them, safeguarded their freedom to spit on this country.
And I am jubilant that this country, when given the opportunity to elect another of these Clinton-style Leftists, gave him the thumbs down.
However, these Leftists are only in their 50's and 60's. There are a lot of them and there are plenty of them serving as politicians who could be contenders for office and the presidency over the course of the next 20 years.
There is one waiting anxiously in the wings named Hillary.
Our fight has only begun and we must organize many Swiftvet-type groups and get them started now to defeat any would-be Leftist contenders.
Every time one of them runs who has any chance of winning, it is another of their continued attempts to spit on those soldiers returning from Vietnam, to spit on America and her values.
As long as these Clinton and Kerry types are running for office, we are NOT through defeating them. We must never let America forget what they stood for and continue to stand for.

"When compared to a Marine, I am nothing."
No good Marine will tolerate that sort of talk, not for a second. Do your duty as well as you know how. Do your duty with all of your strength. When knowledge and strength are not enough, and they aren't, go to the Lord. Ask that His will be done, and ask Him for Grace so you can do better.
Never, never, never lie to yourself. If you do, you won't be able to tell when others are lying to you. You will become like those voters for Kerry yesterday, who cannot distinguish truth from lies.
Buck up, we have done a great thing, a real victory over the forces of Darkness.
Viet Nam, 1966-67-68 (Not a Marine, though. Marines ARE special.)
