Considering that ALL of the states of Lincoln abandoned it in 1964, it's no longer accurate to call it the party of Lincoln. The GOP today is the party of Goldwater and Reagan. Only FOUR states from Lincoln's entire union in 1861 voted for Bush this year, and two of them (Ohio and Iowa) only barely. Meanwhile Bush won every single state of the old CSA by a decisive margin.
Both of whom were proud to be members of The Party of Lincoln. Sorry, if you don't like the name. Maybe the Democrats The Party of Jefferson Davis will take you back.
