So how does one become able to go to the inauguration? I'm assuming it's not a come one come all type event.

As far as going to the actually inauguration (which I believe is on the steps of the Capitol building), I have no idea how that works. I wasn't able to go to the last one.

Syncro, can you help here? You went to the last one. Is it just a matter of getting as close as you can? I think there is a parade or a procession that goes down Pennsylvania Avenue(?), isn't there?
