President Bush - congratulations on your being re-elected. However, this is no time for swagger and false bravado. You need to give credit where credit's due: to the Swift Boat Vets. They are true heroes, who by exposing Kerry's infamy and cowardice, gave you a second chance. And while you're at it, its time to pay respect to the American people by acting like a conservative in a second term. The future of America demands no less. It time for you to finish The Gipper's work by giving us back our country.

"In fact, Bush and Karl Rove seemed to do their utmost to lose the election, despite the best efforts of the vets."

Yawn!

Not at all. I applaud the SwiftVet's efforts but the statement about the President and his team is pure hype.

He's still right. I didn't like what President Bush did domestically and I swallowed my reservations cause its wrong to change horses in midstream in wartime. Nevertheless the fact President Bush didn't romp to a Reagan-style landslide is a warning the American people have put his Administration on probation. He never has to face the voters again so its not asking too much to carry on the Reagan Revolution. At least that's what a majority of the American people want.

I'm going to reply before I read all the comments, because I have a CORRECTION here:

LET'S PLEASE WIDEN THE CREDIT. IT WAS NOT JUST THE SWIFT BOAT VETS WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN FOR W. THERE ARE ONLY 260 OF THEM. IT WAS THE MILLIONS OF VETERANS AND FAMILY MEMBERS WHO WERE NOT ONLY TOUCHED BY THE VIETNAM WAR BUT WHO MIGHT HAVE BEEN TOUCHED IN SOME OTHER WAY BY THE MILITARY AND SHOWED SOLIDARITY.

John O'Neill himself is the first one to say he is not the main character in this play. He acknowledges the work of all the veterans, and the active duty guys as well who couldn't outwardly campaign, but who you can bet did what they could for their CinC.

Please just consider that many other veteran's groups were at work this year....

And to our President: YOU'RE WELCOME.

Absolutely

The Swift Boat Vets and..

Zell Miller

His speech at the RNC made people realize that without National security, all the social programs are moot.

Vietnam Veterans for the Truth (and Operation Streetcorner), Vietnam Special Forces Against Kerry, Vietnam Veterans Against Kerry, POW/MIA Families Against Kerry, Wingmen for Bush, etc. etc. etc.

Domestically Bush has been a mixed bag. Not all bad as you say. Tax cuts, no Kyoto, no ICC and other similar things he did right. Obviously many other things he did wrong.

But all of that is really moot if your dead.

The volunteers who went door to door, the people who drove folks to the polls, the troops who kept their morale up overseas, etc...

Yes, the list is endless, all of whom contributed to the victory.

My hat's off to the Swift Boat Veterans. This small group of men were more effective than any other group in the campaign. Truth always shines through no matter what and that's why their message was so effective. They risked their privacy, audits by the IRS and the full brunt of the opposition and stood their ground. THREE CHEERS FOR THE SWIFTIES. They helped proved our process works.

Agreed. Bush walked a thin wire with the MSM begging him to acknowledge the swifties so they could roast he and them over any connection. In all I think Rove has more than proven his worth, and this is the most agressive conservative team in a looong time.

Farah is simply trying to hide behind the SwiftVets for his own agenda. It won't work.

Now that the wolf is away from the door, Bush better start tracking Right on issues like immigration, school vouchers, federal spending (squandering), homo-marriages, and judges.
