Yes, I can't think of anything, right off the bat, other than money. Alot of countries, other than the U.S., have different colors for different denominations of money. At least European countries did prior to the Euro and I'm not sure of the color(s) of the Euro. America, compared to (some) others, all denominations are green.
Green zone?
That gets today's "well that's weird" award.
Masjid is the Arabic word which gets Englished as Mosque.
Thanks much for checking that one out.
Thanks Cindy - will definitely check these out.
Okay, my brain switched to slow gear I guess. What is the green zone? (Sorry)
That's the layer of cheese you have to scrape off when it's been out too long.
You're welcome RR.
Ohhhh. Ewwwwww.
One the thing that is called the green Zone is a very protected area arround Bagdad where we have bases. Some hotels there I believe. I don't know how big it is.
smiling...
Thanks Laura.
Forget about the bases. I got that part wrong:
"The International Zone (formerly known as the Green Zone) is the heavily guarded area of closed-off streets in central Baghdad where US occupation authorities live and work. The Green Zone in the central city includes the main palaces of former President Saddam Hussein. The area houses the civilian ruling authority run by the Americans and British and the offices of major US consulting companies.
The precise boundries of the "Green Zone" are difficult to determine, and indeed may change with time. The core of the Green Zone appears to be the presidential complex of Saddam Hussein. "
Oh, of course. Thanks Revel.
Reading On...I am very confused. This is a poor write up.
"The International Zone (formerly known as the Green Zone) is the heavily guarded diplomatic/government corner of central Baghdad that houses Iraqi citizens, Coalition partners, and U.S. forces. It is commonly referred to as the Ultimate Gated Community due to the numerous armed checkpoints, coils of razor wire, chain link fences, and the fact it is surrounded by T-Walls (reinforced and blast-proof concrete slabs)."
