But, but, but...

Now just supposing you'd been a member of FreeRepublic for going on four years now. And have posted handsomely and wisely for lo those many years. Yet have never been part of any of the quasi-organized groups on this site.

Which is not because you weren't invited but more because your life in the pajamahadeen is more a solitary and pensive one. Thus the various 'lounges' and 'parlors' and 'ping lists' went on without you as this wasn't your thing. Clicking and viewing the headlines, perusing the threads of interest, posting your own wise missives, THIS was your thing with FreeRepublic.

So here you are, this mythical Freeper who might even be a Blogger in your own right, pondering this inaugural ball and thinking....'yeah, I'd like to go to that'.

Problem is, you don't know anybody. Not a single soul in that chummy personal way such as sites like this generate. Never Freeped anyone. Rarely send Freepmail to anyone, never actual email.

Now suppose you were this sort of Freeper? How could you possibly go without tables of ten tagging along? Walking into the festivities knowing not one hand will wave wildly to greet you. A fine and cherished citizen of FreeRepublic as originally envisioned, but not especially well known on the site, not at all on a personal level. While these might have been free choices, wouldn't you wonder what it would be like to join in on the party?

And be deathly afraid to accept the invitation?

Not to worry. When you walk through the door, you will be greeted by hundreds of life long friends that you are meeting in person for the first time. It's like a great big family reunion - only better.

Fishtalk. I am hoping to go to this ball with Roselani and Mrs. Liberty. They happen to be my sisters. Almost two years ago, I started corresponding with Rabid Republican who is now Rabid Dog. She jump started some rallies and things in Ventura County CA and I helped where I could. Met a few more Freepers - Mayflower Madam for one. When President Reagan died, I met a slew of Freepers. And then later this summer, in July, Rabid organized a Reagan Library tour and then a bunch of us met at her house for some good eats. What an awesome time! Doodlelady doodled, People's Republic and Hangfire jammed, DFU was there with his cool PT cruiser and Jim Robinson, his wife and son all were there. The best way to describe this is YOU FEEL IMMEDIATELY at home. Maybe you are more to the center and some are more to the right, but your basic values and beliefs are similar. What I am saying is, that you will know everybody, and they will know you. You will be comfortable. Its a good feeling to be with other Freepers.

The greatest and bestest thing about a Freeper ball is that no one is a stranger. Everyone is a Freeper and therefore, there is an immediate bonding by simply saying one's name.

Don't be afraid. There are no cliques, no insies-outsies, no better-than-thou's. It's the FRiendliest place in town!

See ya there!

Truthy
