Badnarik launches final TV ad blitz in 4 swing states

WASHINGTON -- With the Bush-Kerry race too close to call, the Badnarik for President campaign has launched a final flurry of TV advertising aimed at disgruntled Republicans in four swing states.

"Millions of fiscal conservatives have been left politically homeless by the GOP, so we're rolling out the Libertarian welcome mat," said Barbara Goushaw, campaign manager for Badnarik. "If George Bush thinks these people have no place to go, he's in for a big surprise."

The TV spots, titled "Send a Message," are running in Nevada, New Mexico, Wisconsin and Arizona, four states where most analysts agree that the Libertarian has a chance to attract enough small-government votes to tip the balance against Bush. The Badnarik ads are also running nationally on the Fox News Channel and CNN Headline News.

"Our national ads took a shotgun approach in pointing out that George Bush is no conservative," Goushaw said. "Now we're taking the rifle approach, and we have this big-spending Republican in our crosshairs."

In Wisconsin, which Goushaw termed "a very Libertarian-friendly state," the party's gubernatorial candidate, Ed Thompson, garnered 10.5 of the vote in 2002 and was credited by some analysts with helping Democrat Jim Doyle break the four-term Republican hold on the statehouse. Bush narrowly lost the state in 2000, and is deadlocked with Kerry in most polls.

"There's a much stronger Libertarian base in Wisconsin than people realize, and Thompson is extremely popular," she said. "And while Nader is on the ballot, the Democrats' are expected to rally around Kerry as a result of their all-consuming desire to defeat Bush."

In New Mexico, Gore defeated Bush by just 366 votes in 2000 while Libertarian Harry Browne attracted 2,058 votes.

"We picked New Mexico because it was a swing state in which our previous candidate held the margin, and Badnarik was polling at 5 percent recently after running a flurry of TV spots designed to build name recognition," she said.

In Nevada, Badnarik also ran ads earlier in the campaign, which caused his poll numbers to rise to 2 percent, nearly enough to tilt the outcome. The party has also been able to elect local officeholders in the state.

Though Arizona is considered a "safe" Bush state with the president holding onto a 4- to 6-point lead, Nader is not on the ballot, Goushaw noted.

"Arizona is only a 'safe' Bush state because he is considered the lesser of two evils," she said. "Badnarik is actually much closer to the actual beliefs and attitudes of residents in the land of Libertarian icon Barry Goldwater. We believe that costing Bush this state isn't likely, but it's possible -- which is why it's one of our four targets.

"If Badnarik can earn enough votes to tip the balance in just one state, the Republicans would realize they would have to deliver small government quickly, or step aside and let the Libertarians do it. There's no point to both major parties running on a big-government platform."

I saw one ad ... that hurt us here in Austin, TX, his homeown ... a Libertarian cost us a TX Representative seat, who lost in a razor thin race (only a few hundred votes) and the Libertarian took 2% of the vote ... and to think, I voted for a Libertarian in a race or two...

NO MORE!@@!

Did you notice how the LP came into some deep pockets for advertising (in swing states) suddenly at the end of the election?

Their whole campaign smells of Soros money.

CP and LP confuse the purpose of an ideology with the purpose of a political party. They are related, but different ... political parties are useless if they dont unite people to garner enough for political power. pulling 1% is not political power, that's being a flea-bite on the major parties ... to get that power requires UNITY and coalition-building, but 3rd parties by their defnition are DISUNITY oriented and coalition-breaking.

CP folks are a key part of activist base in the GOP;
the freedom/free-enterprise elements are as well.
LP just breaks off that coalition.

since they confuse their purposes, they only manage to create anti-productive results.

The RP does a lot of things that many CP and LP people do not consider conservative and classic liberal. If you can keep the break less than 1% to them, you've done a fine job. You cannot and will not ever make them all vote Republican. Most likely, many simply would not vote at all if there was no 3rd party option. If nothing else, the CP and LP put at least limited checks on the RP from becoming even more liberal too quickly than they already are.

Perhaps you have reading comprehension problems. I clearly stated in post #2 that I voted for Bush and Burr and subsequently stated that I only would have voted 3rd party had there been zero question of Bush' victory in NC and since a couple polls showed a narrow 3-5% Bush victory, I did not vote 3rd party. Like I said, continue to bark all you want.

"Perhaps you have reading comprehension problems."

Nope, that would be a malady you suffer from...when you read the BS put out by the LP and CP and believe it.

You've yet to show where I fail to suffer reading comprehension problems. I know there are kooks and weirdos in the minor parties but that doesn't mean I won't vote for them if the Republican is comfortably ahead -- or that I believe that they are conservative or classic classic liberals. I believe their press releases about as much as I believe all the Republicans press releases which is to say I take them all with a grain of salt. I believe 0% of Democratic press release. This is my last post to you, I have no reason to continue talking to you as you seem to want to spend more time fighting 2 or 3 the 200,000 people in the country that are not huge fans of the two major parties. G'night.

Interesting freepmail but you can keep it to yourself...

"Exactly where did I say I believed every press release and comment by the LP or CP. Continue to spew your BS and I'll continue to laugh at your hatred. Also, continue to think that you are really smart. Maybe one day you will be."

And thanks for bumping the thread for me...I want as many freepers as possible to see the truth about the spoiler parties.

The LP's only stated object, by their own words, was to throw the election to Kerry. The LP isn't conservative.

The Libertarian Party isn't anything, the party was formed over 30 years ago, and they still refuse to do what is necessary to win elections, they continue to prove that they have no intrest in winning elections.

You are a sad individual. If you spent half as much time trying to convince people who don't normally vote to vote Republican and explain why they should, you'd get far more people to vote for Republicans than you'll convince 3rd party people to vote for Republicans. Like I said earlier on this thread even though for some reason you want to continue to be beligerant about it, I will continue to vote Republican when the vote is close and 3rd party when it is not.
