I think it is fair to claim that in this close election, the SBVT effort made the difference. I believe it is quite likely Kerry would have won without their efforts.

It is also worth reflecting on the now-famous debate between Kerry and O'Neil.

The real story of this election is the merciless beating George W. Bush has taken for four years in the press and yet has done so well to overcome such monumental smear tactics.

Yeah, I think we owe these guys a great deal. Assuming a bit prematurely that W wins this thing, I'm not sure he would have done it without the Vets shining the light on Kerry's sordid past.
