Republicans battled Tuesday to retain control of the House as Democrats pinned their longshot hopes of capturing the chamber on sweeping the lion's share of the few truly competitive races.
Among the evening's earliest returns, four-term veteran Rep. Anne Northup, R-Ky., once again survived a determined Democratic attempt to oust her from her Louisville-area seat. And Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Ky., a contender to chair the House Appropriations Committee in the next Congress, was elected unopposed to his 12th term, as were nine other uncontested representatives from Florida.
Good job to my beloved wildcat friends! I still miss Lexington!
WE have to bring Bunning home..so he can retire soon, and the GOP governor can name Northrup to the seat.....
I thought Northrup was a RINO? Why do I have a negative impression of her? It's been awhile since I lived in KY, but that's what I feel.
all is looking good in kentucky but bunning may not make it.
like i've said earlier, worst reelection campaign EVER.
brother mitch came in and stopped the bleeding but it may have been to late.
western kentucky is still out so it MAY swing back.
from WestPa-any chance Bunning can stage a come back?
Bunning trails by 50k with half the vote in...
i think it's up to 90% now.
Is Bunning winning? I just walked through the door...
I live in KY, and have looked at where the results are so far. I still think Bunning wins based on where Mongardio's votes are from (Fayette and JEfferson). His home area in NKY has very few precincts reporting yet. Also, a big surprise in the same area is that the house race, Davis is beting Clooney by 2% with a fair % in. MY brother in law lives up there and is a big hunter. He said Clooney was getting hurt bad by the gun owners and hunters there.
God,Bunning's got to win.
It's narrowing...
Yippeeeee!!!! Maybe now they will finally leave Anne alone. She owns that seat now. A textbook example of how to build a Republican majority. Looks like we are taking back the 4th District too.
Of course, Byrd and Kennedy are stable?
bunning will lose, turn your prayers to south dakota.
3rd district (Jefferson county) still only at 55% reporting.
Maybe she is a "moderate", but many of the MSM pre-election screeds, stated that if Northrup won, it would presage a good night for the Republicans. I think it has to do with her opposition and the kind of district she is in. Who knows, but it's a lot better than the other result.
He will?
ooops{grin} well he should have. i'm glad he didn't though.
