Precisely, if Gore hadn't turned off so many people four years ago, this may not have been such a victory for the Republicans. He shot himself in the foot.

Brit just pointed out that if the dems do this, the dynamic isn't the same. In 2000 you had two non-incumbents who couldn't begin to form a government until the issue was settled. Bush is IN OFFICE, so he has the mantle of the incumbancy. The mood and the dynamic is not the same.

So, you are quite correct. The dems will destroy themselves if they try this.
