'THE BUSHIES SHOULD BE CONFIDENT ABOUT FLORIDA' [11/02 10:04 PM]
From a guy in the media who used to cover Florida:
The Bushies should be confident about Florida. Been following along throughout the evening; brought back memories of CQ in 2000. One of the differences in Florida (that was one of my states back then) this year is that the possibly Dem counties have enough GOP votes so far to blunt the impact of the Dem strongholds. Of course, we've got little from Miami-Dade and Palm Beach, but Broward isn't even 2-1 Kerry at this point while Bush leads in Hillsborough (Tampa), Pinellas (St. Pete/Clearwater) and Orange (Orlando), all part of the vaunted I-4 corridor. Hard to see Palm Beach and Miami-Dade being far off the trends to swing it for Kerry.
Obviously, one should not get too far ahead of oneself. But I understand that a county near Tallahassee, with 80,000 to 100,000 votes for Bush, has yet to report.
