The sad thing about David Bloom is that I did not really follow him much before the war. I could not get enough of him then. It was so obvious he was such a good guy. Checking into his past confirmed what you are saying. He always was.

I met David Blooms wife at a dinner for winners of the Congressional Medal of Honor. I asked her for her autograph. She said, "No one's ever asked me for my autograph...David always did those things."

She is a very humble, pretty and nice person.
