Absentee ballots in Bernalillo County box not counted

Location: ALBUQUERQUE
Source: AP

There were no major voting problems in New Mexico today, but there were some gliches.
However, as the vote tally began, state District Judge Theresa Baca in Bernalillo County ordered that a ballot box containing about 200 absentee ballots would not be counted.

County Clerk Mary Herrera said there was a mixup and the box was not opened and stamped by the 7 p-m deadline.

Baca's ruling can be appealed and the ballots will be sequestered.

Cibola County workers had to hand count about two-thousand absentee ballots after a machine broke and rejected many of the ballots.

Cibola County also ran out of provisional ballots at all of its polling places, while Dona Ana County ran out in only some precincts. The county clerks had the ballots reprinted and sent out to the precincts.

Do not know for sure.
