Perspective on ANY exit polls, good or bad: 2002
http://www.nationalreview.com ^

ANOTHER EXIT REMINDER [KJL] Bush Cheneyers reminding: First wave of exit polls are not reliable--they are raw numbers, not balanced. They don't include absentee and early votes. Example: First round of exit polling in '02 CO Senate race showed Strickland up ten percentage points over Allard.

Well, we all know already that the exit poll was probably early voting, not real exit polls, and even if so was 60-40 women, but even at that, remember, with ALL exit polls, good or bad, get perspective. Remember Colorado 2002? Allard won by 5% btw, that would be a 15% swing from the early exit polls then.

Nice move. The breathlessly report this stuff then come out with the caveats much later. Drudge got played and so did NRO.

Exactly what I was mentioning in another post.

The DUer's were warning their folks not to put any stock in exit polls because of what happened in 2002.

They thought they were doing great by early exit polling, and then when the numbers were counted the exit polling turned out to be all wrong. They felt like the exit polling had created complacency amont the Dems in 2002 so were warning their posters not to pay any attention to the exit polls.

Interesting take, you wonder why they even do them, when both sides recognize the unreliability of the polls, and they can be seen as either causing complacency or defeatism, depending on who you're voting for.

Face it - the MSM and rats are in their last desperate frenzy mode. Just don't lose sight of the goal. All we should be concentrating on right now is praying and voting. After we have voted, we should make sure all the pro-Bush supporters we know have done the same. Report any abuse that you see. There will be time enough for psychoanalyzing tonight and tomorrow. Don't be influenced by spin.

There was a reason that VNS went away after 2002:

Didn't the exit polls in 2002 have Jeb Bush loosing? He won Florida in 2002 by %14.

So how is Senator Strickland doing nowadays? I thought I spotted him having lunch recently with our Florida Governor McBride.

Yep--they were extremely wrong in 2002, but, with the exception of FL, were fairly accurate in 2000. However, FL was such a disaster that it killed VNS, which had been fairly reliable until that state that year.

Yes, also had Elizabeth Dole getting killed. I guess a 54-45 wallup = losing badly for the 54% person. lol

Anyhow, I have out my cellphone, and am calling voters in Florida. I've got pages I had faxed to me, but you can get numbers to call on Bush's website as well. Everyone with a cellphone can do this easily. Come on everybody!

2002. That's when Forida Governor McBride (early exit poll winner) decisively beat Jeb Bush.

Kids....

Don't fret the exit polls at this point. Remember, Republicans tend to be employed! Therefore, they either get to the polls before work or after work, mostly after.

Not only that as Druge is NOW reporting the poll is 59% Women/41% Men so the numbers are completely worthless.

You mean Irksome Bowels is not the senator from North Carolina. You mean Elizabeth Dole is the senator from that state?

Yeah, they were actually talking about the Cleland vote and I think the McKinney vote.

But the Florida vote is a good example!

The whole concept of exit polling is so "unscientific".

I'm not a big proponent of polls anyway, but exit polls have no basis in reality, IMHO, and I thought that we had learned that lesson last election.
