Old Dominion FReepers...check in and tell us how voting was in yer area...MUD
Went to Manakin fire station to vote around 8:25, but there was a 45 minute wait and I had to be at a different polling place to help out at 9. I'm getting ready to head back now to finally vote. The line was long at lunch time according to my wife. Hopefully it's not as long now.
Just got back from the 12:00-1:30pm shift giving out the Republican Sample ballot in Chantilly, VA. I would say turnout moderate (was very heavy 6am to noon). My guess based on reaction to my overtures would be 58%Bush 42% Kerry. Let's see how this one holds up tonight.
A poll judge said to me "Good morning". I yelled "STOP INTIMIDATING ME!!" Then I ran out screaming "I'VE BEEN DISENFRANCHISED!!"
Newport News, VA:
I waited until shortly after 10 to vote wanting to avoid the rush.
When I arrived there was a line of cars stretched out from the parking lot waiting for a place to park. I actually had to stand in line to wait to vote. If nothing else, this election did overcome voter apathy.
My daughter went to go vote (same precinct as mine in No. VA), and brought her 5-year-old son with her. Like me, she got mobbed by the Kerryites. One tried to hand her a voter guide; she said "No thanks." As she proceeded past them, the Kerryite yelled "Bitch!" to her - right in front of my grandson. I'm fuming mad right now, and would like to head back there and punch his lights out!
She did say the Republicans were very nice.
Voted this AM in NOVA: In line at 7; finished by 7:30. Line was the longest I've seen at my polling place in 25 years. Everyone was very quiet and seemed more somber than in other years. DNC shills looked shell-shocked. Hardly anyone accepting their literature. Estimate 200 people in line.
I voted at 3:30 at precinct 105 in Richmond and there were about 8 people there voting. Light. But I was the 657th vote from my A-K sign up table. That would be over 1300 for both tables and that strikes me as high because many people vote after work in this heavy GOP precinct.
I just got back from working the polls, and going to the county HQ to watch the results. I've been out manning the polls since 8:30 this morning. The turnout and response to our Republican sample ballots has been tremendous. I saw nothing obviously crooked at our precinct.
I can't wait to finally see the headline for our local congressional race:
Goode SMOKES Weed!!!! (62% to 38%)
