Listened to the guy behind me in line bitch about Michael Moore. Funny.
Just got back from voting down the street (9th St. & Osborn in Phoenix). All very orderly and pleasant. No lines at 10 a.m. Moveon.org had a table set up (with cookies and bottled water). A couple other individuals handed out brochures (although many of those same brochures were tossed in a trash barrel closer to the building's entrance). Two monitors just standing around. Arizona's ballot was quite long due to many judgeships and several propositions. I'm wearing proudly my "I voted today" sticker.
About a mile north of there, on the way to work, I saw about a half dozen high school students stidently waving Kerry signs at an intersection. Not sure how they got a day off from school to do that.

Guy next to me was Vietnam Vet--couldn't wait to flush the two Johns. Dims near us weren't enjoying our Right Wing conversation. We enjoyed watching them not enjoy it. Go W!!
Because I am waiting to see if I will get orders to deploy I voted early ballot. I live in a townhouse and everyone here are basically W voters...Just got on my neighbor about getting in and voting..........
I just got a phone call from Rudy Giuliani asking me to vote for "our Republican team", "paid for by AZGOP, not authorized by any candidate".
Got in line at 6:10 am at the Osana Park precinct (83th and Peoria). About 50 people in line. Stayed pretty constant the whole time I was there. Took me an hour to vote.
Interesting that the other precinct in the same building had almost non-existant voter turnout. That precinct serves a much lower income neighborhood.
We just got back from voting in Gilbert (Higley High School), the wife, daughter and I stood in line for 2hrs and 10 mins to get into the voting booths. It's the heaviest turnout I've seen since I've been voting (1976). When we got out of the there the lines were still backed out of the doors....amazing.
Upon exiting the voting place I was interviewed by a Republican Poll Watcher...he had been at two other locations already (Power Ranch and one in Mesa), and said the turn outs were the heaviest he'd ever seen as well.
Nothing left to do at this point but wait for this evening when the returns start coming in.
In and out in 10 minutes.
Polling place workers were nice and cordial.
However, there was this scruffy looking fella (long hair, unshaven and wrinkled shirt) who was complaining about having "his right to vote challenged".
I didn't witness this for myself, but I overheard the monitors taking.
You see, The only thing we need to do here is give your name and then your address (while the monitor covers this bit of info with his/her hand).
The guy that was all in huff gave his name, but refused to give his address....and then started with his chest thumping.
He left by saying that he was going to call his lawyer.
Not to be judgemental (well, maybe this one time (grin)), the guy looked like he needed a fix, and he wasn't gonna get one without a half dozen "I VOTED TODAY" stickers to prove it.
I gotta give it to the monitors for not buckling to this dudes rantings.
Hubby and I voted at about 9:30 this morning at our North Phoenix precinct. Only a few people ahead of us in line and they were all taking longer because they needed provisional ballots for various reasons. We were voters 196 and 197 at our precinct. We were proud to be able to tell the AZGOP phone caller this afternoon that we had already voted for GWB!!!!
Hubby and I voted at the local church (Sierra Vista), was quiet and orderly.
A man in an army uniform (1 star on his collar) was asking what it would take to vote. They told him and off he went to get whatever it was.
There was a man just off the property with a sign that said "Voter Protection Assistance" - that was new. I laughed as I drove past him, he just scowled.
I'm also in Sierra Vista. The church used by Country Club and Buffalo Soldier precincts was crowded by 0700. Heavier turnout than I saw in 2000.
I live in SE Tucson. For lack of anything better to do, I got on my bike and rode to the precinct to drop off my mail ballot mid-afternoon I noticed a taxi waiting for someone ouside. Now, that's what I call dedication, voting by taxi while the clock's running! Went from there on a ride over one of my favorite 30-mile bike routes, since it was such a perfect day weather-wise. I passed at least five other voting precincts on the route. I noticed plenty of traffic entering and leaving at each, which lines up with the predicted high turnout. No sign-toters or solicitors from either side noted anywhere that I saw. SE Tucson is generally a quiet, mellow place, so not unexpected. Maybe they'll have some good riots over on the west side of town.
Yahoo is showing AZ leaning Bush, 54 - 45 with 40% reporting.
Voted in South Chandler today. Riggs and Val Vista. 2 hour waits the entire day. I waited two hours and twenty minutes.
BTW, checked the props on KFYI site. yes on 200, I think 58 to 41. And light rail (ugh) is passing too with comfortable margin. Both at about 60 percent reporting.
