Reporting in from Ventura County

Heavy voting and lines outside of the church in Camarillo at 7:30 this morning.

Returned to vote at 10:00 a.m. and walked right in. Checked the posted voter rolls and saw a high percentage of Republicans have voted.

This County went for Bush in 2000 on the basis of absentee ballots. Bush actually lost on election day votes. Potential for vote fraud in Oxnard, with heavy Democratic registration.

FReeper "rabid dog" is one of our Republican county coordinators. She, and the others have done a great job with getting out the vote.

My oldest daughter, a college student away from home, voted by absentee ballot. Very excited - straight Republican ticket!

Thanks for the field report! I'm working one of the poll locations this afternoon and will report in when I get back! I'm hoping that Ventura County can offset Santa Barbara and LA County. Ventura County is Bush County for sure!

I have visited the polls at the community center, and was surprised at the long line that extended outdoors. I was even more surprised to find that when I followed the line, I ended up at the local soup kitchen. There were only about ten people there to vote and traffic in the polls went smoothly, with no problems at all. The poll workers were very competent and doing a great job. I think the voters around here are complacent. Next stop - City Hall
