My wife and I voted early in Okaloosa County in the Florida panhandle. Our county gave Dubya 74% of its vote in 2000 (heavy active/retired military presence, plus bible belt). The Supervisor of Elections is projecting an 80% turnout, versus 70% in 2000. Call-ins on local radio program regarding lines at precincts say the lines are long this morning, some longer than anyone can remember. Looks like the conservative base is turning out in droves here.
The voters in my precinct normally turn out in a large percentage, and I know Polk's Supervisor of Elections is also projecting high turnout county wide. If so, great news for President Bush. I'm goign to talk to some of the folks around my office and see what their voting experience was like.
