My computer connection died last night, so I prayed and finally went to bed.

When I posted last night Elijah's intercession bringing on a small cloud which in turn led to a downpour, it was not prophetic, it was merely a prayer-wish on my part. I'm sorry I didn't make that clear, and apologize. Like most or all of us, I've had to pray this election through from a position of repentance and intercession, with no special prophetic light.

Nonetheless, the pericope does make for a fitting prayer metaphor. We can continue to pray that what once was invisible, and which now looks like a small cloud - the razor thin margins in four critical states, and the equally thin spiritual mandate from the people in general - will continue to gather mass and culminate in a great downpour. Send us rain, O Lord.

It looks like God has given us a victory. But it is really His victory, and ours only to the degree that we are identified with Him. Like Joshua's Commander of the Armies of the Lord, He has come to take over, more than to take sides. And even if today's situation were to somehow come to be reversed, He is still with us to bring about His will.

For us this is only the end of the beginning; our work in the nation and the world has just begun. Some of the congressional races were indeed sweet, and we are indeed happy for them, but it is not enough to merely win elections. The work of the Spirit cannot be done from top-down alone; it must be undergirded from the bottom-up. We have a deeply divided nation before us. A substantial minority of Evangelicals voted against what were clear moral imperatives. Many minorities remain tragically alienated and continue to work against everyone's best interests.

My feeling at the moment is mostly numbness; I'm not sure what to think. But that we have made it to this point without being defeated is in itself a victory. I take no carnal joy over defeating human foes. Being "more than conquerors" entails the next step of winning them over to Christ.

May the Lord's cause endure, and may He continue to draw all things to Himself, His perfect will to perform, until that Day when this present age of darkness will be swallowed up by Light.

Paul

Kerry has conceded--

We thank YOu, Lord, for answering our prayers for a victory in this Presdiential election! We THANK YOU for another four years of our wonderful President, Your servant George W. Bush. We thank You for the example of a Godly child, that he has provided for so many months, through this very contentious campaign.

We thank YOU for his example of being graceful in accepting Kerry's concession.Help us to be as gracious even when we're tempted to gloat at this win. Let us shine Your love.

We pray that the next four years would bring a great spiritual revival in our country.

THANK YOU for answering so many prayers in these last days, week, and months. You kept our President and his family safe, and they continued to look to You for guidance. The election was peaceful, with few complaints of voter fraud. The popular vote was OVERWHELMING for Bush.We praise and thank You for answered prayers!

Amen.
