Possible relation to Peter?"

I am currently re-reading John Barron, KGB TODAY: The Hidden Hand, Readers Digest, 1983; Berkeley Edition, 1985.

From Chapter VI: Reality Upside Down, page 234:

From March 20 to 22, 1981, virtually the entire blueprint for the nuclear freeze campaign that followed was drawn in clear and comprehensive detail. Speakers stressed that the beauty of the nuclear freeze derives from its simplicity. It would enable all people sincerely concerned about the danger of nuclear war to answer for themselves the question: "What can I do?"

The key move was Brezhnev's address to the 26th Party Congress February 23, 1981, calling for a halt in production of all nuclear weapons and a ban on the "neutron bomb." He also issued the first official Soviet appeal for a nuclear "freeze" or an immediate cessation of development and deployment of the new missiles the U.S. planned for Europe. As the Chairman of the Soviet Peace Committee, Yuri Zhukov, states, the Soviets then "proposed that the 'freeze' be extended to strategic--intercontinental--nuclear armaments." The KGB, the International Department and the immense Active Measures apparatus quickly heeded his call.

Soviet objective to abort American Enhanced Radiation Weapon, MX, Pershing II, cruise missiles, and a new manned bomber.

Major Mobilization for Survival conference March 20-22, 1981, Georgetown, two "invited" Soviet "guests": Oleg Bogdanov, International Department Specialist in Active Measures, who flew in from Moscow. Yuri S. Kapralov, counselor at Soviet Embassy in Washington, KGB officer dedicated to penetrating the peace movement.

Barron's account illustrates how the KGB mobilized millions to march world-wide for causes they considered important--while all their efforts fed the Soviet interest like mountain run-off reaches the sea.

Some agents are more witting than others: John Forbes Kerry who has serially promoted North Vietnamese Communist objectives in Paris in 1970-1, Nicaraguan Communist objectives in 1985, Vietnamese Communist objectives in 1990-1, and the nuclear freeze/American disarmament objective throughout.

Regarding the earlier rhetorical question why is this important chapter in history unreported, I give you the leftist education system and the leftist "media" (read, socialist indoctrination centers, and socialist propaganda organs).

We are participating in driving a stake into the black heart of the latter.

How shall we reform the educational climate?

No doubt we are the medium, the message, the antidote, the solution.

The vilest forgery dissolves in a beaker of scrutiny.
