Study finds press pro-Kerry (Imagine that...)
The Washington Times ^ | 11/1/04 | Jennifer Harper

Sen. John Kerry has gotten the white-glove treatment from the press, garnering more praise from journalists than any other presidential candidate in the last quarter-century, according to a new analysis of almost 500 news stories released today by the Center for Media and Public Affairs. "It's not just that John Kerry has gotten better press than President Bush before this election, he's gotten better press than anyone else since 1980. That's significant," said Bob Lichter, director of the D.C.-based nonpartisan research group. "Kerry also got better press than anyone else in the days before the primaries as well," Mr. Lichter added. In October alone, Mr. Kerry had a "record-breaking 77 percent positive press evaluations," compared with 34 percent positive for Mr. Bush, the study states. Unprecedented, untrammeled accolades for Mr. Kerry were more than debate-related bounce, however. Since Labor Day, he also had a total of 58 percent positive stories, with just 36 percent for Mr. Bush. Journalists seem particularly transfixed by the Democratic challenger this year: In the 2000 election, Mr. Bush and challenger Al Gore got equally lousy press, with each receiving evaluations that were about 2-to-1 negative.

Isn't it ironic that the candidate the media decides to pull out all the stops for is such a zero?! It's gonna cost 'em, starting tomorrow...

They would've given the same wonderful reviews to a dead fern if it'd run against Bush.

I wasn't sure with dan, tom, catie, charlie et al having their noses shoved so far up kerry's rectum, it was hard to tell just how pro kerry they were. It's clear as the brown noses on their faces now!

"The press is pro Kerry" is a like the sign that says, "floor slippery when wet". Anybody with common sense would know that. Only the overschooled and uneducated would argue the point.

Maybe it is time for us to put our money where our mouth is. Refuse to buy any of the liberal rags, ie., USA Today, NY Times, Washington Post, etc., for a long enough period of time to make them feel the sting. Same with ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc. - tune them out! They consistently thumb their noses at us - why do we continue to support them? When the only people supporting their products are the welfare population and Hollywood, maybe they'll finally realize that they need us worse than we need them!

This rates with studies like, "Food found to ease hunger pain" and "Air pressure in tires directly connected to forward motion of vehicle".

Truly an academic research project! Kudos all around!

"...Mr. Kerry had a "record-breaking 77 percent positive press evaluations..."

It's actually more biased than the numbers represent. because the few "negative" stories about Kerry aren't all that negative.

For example, if the press wanted to show a little balanced negativity, they might inquire about Mr. Kerry's original discharge, his alleged gift of aid to our enemy during wartime, and how he is a serial con artist of wealthy heiresses.
