CLINTONS SEND BACK $14,000 BIKE TO LENO
Former American President BILL CLINTON refused a $14,000 (GBP7,775) get-well present from American TV programme THE TONIGHT SHOW, because accepting it would break US Senate rules.
Presenter JAY LENO arranged for the tandem bicycle to be sent to Clinton, who is recovering from bypass surgery.
But it was swiftly returned because Clinton's wife HILLARY is senator for New York and it is illegal for her to accept gifts valued at more than $50 (GBP28).
An insider says, "What is weirder - that Jay Leno can reach in his pocket for a $14,000 gift, or that Leno has the clout at NBC to say to some assistant, 'Oh yeah, I want to give Bill Clinton a $14,000 gift - can you guys pick up the cheque on that one? I'm going to lunch.'"
A spokesperson for Leno tells website PAGESIX.COM, "The bicycle was a get-well gift from the show, not Jay."

$13,900 worth of "name", as in "You pay for the name". Priced any Harleys lately? Or a Hummer? Or a Lincoln Navigator? Or a Cadillac Escalade? And so on.
I never get sea sick but I am barfing, as I type.
bought a bike two years ago. The first one I had since I was a kid in the 1940's. I paid $100 for it and its a 21-speed. I am simply amazed at what I got. What in God's name does $14,000 buy..??..!""
EXTRA HEAVY DUTY frame and engineering for lard ass Hillary to ride with Bill, since they did say it was a tandem bike. The rest of the cost is liability insurance for the company that made the bike, since Hillary, Bill, sKerry and Edwards are all so good at suing all providers of goods and services in the USA.
I forgot about the solid rubber Goodyear tires like the ones run at Bonneville, since the combined weight of those 2 would flatten the tires and bend the wheels.
Old racing adage: When in doubt, make it stout!!
Not sure we could make it stout enough for those 2.
Great line, very PJ O'Rourkeish
You could always try some "Norwegian Viagra"........AKA popcicle sticks and duct tape. ;-)
