CLINTONS SEND BACK $14,000 BIKE TO LENO
Former American President BILL CLINTON refused a $14,000 (GBP7,775) get-well present from American TV programme THE TONIGHT SHOW, because accepting it would break US Senate rules.
Presenter JAY LENO arranged for the tandem bicycle to be sent to Clinton, who is recovering from bypass surgery.
But it was swiftly returned because Clinton's wife HILLARY is senator for New York and it is illegal for her to accept gifts valued at more than $50 (GBP28).
An insider says, "What is weirder - that Jay Leno can reach in his pocket for a $14,000 gift, or that Leno has the clout at NBC to say to some assistant, 'Oh yeah, I want to give Bill Clinton a $14,000 gift - can you guys pick up the cheque on that one? I'm going to lunch.'"
A spokesperson for Leno tells website PAGESIX.COM, "The bicycle was a get-well gift from the show, not Jay."

Why? Heck, Katie Couric makes $12 million a year ($230,769.23 each week/ $46,153.85 per episode) for asking really stupid questions. Her own bonbons cost more than that...
Where can I contact Leno? I'll take it. I have an Uncle who just had heart bypass. He might like it.

By the way, I see "the show" (The Tonight Show) with was the gift giver, not Jay Leno. So NBC makes $14,000 gifts to DemocRAT politicians? Get well, my a**.

This is bizarre that Jay would go to such an extreme of a*#-kissing. How can anyone take him seriously, when they see what a brown-noser he's become. Then again, this is probably how he oiled up Carson when he was trying to get the hosting gig.
Leno and Letterman are liberal suck-ups that do not interest me. Did Dave pick up a broom for Hillary?
In Leno's place I would have the returned bike checked - wheels or brakes or something else might pretty well be missing.
I bought a bike two years ago. The first one I had since I was a kid in the 1940's. I paid $100 for it and its a 21-speed. I am simply amazed at what I got. What in God's name does $14,000 buy..??..!
I just can't imagine riding a tandem with her right behind me. Perhaps it would be time for the beans for the meal before. You would pedal harder to try and get away or home faster to escape the noise.
It looks as if Jay didn't have a say in this one.......unless it was a test....to see if they would accept it (against the rules)
