I called my fifteen in Michigan today. Fourteen were pleasant, most voting for Bush and appreciated the reminder. I'll try to do 15 more tonite.
Way to go, PJ!!! That is awesome! All of my close friends are voting and I won't change their minds. But I've been talking to all my neighbors and other moms at school here in Bucks County, PA. I think we have a ton of security moms that are not showing up in the polls. We are all voting for Bush-Cheney! I have talked to at least four here that voted for Gore in 2000 but are voting for Bush this time.
GOOD WORK!
I haven't called people on my cellphone list BUT: I'm a stay home parent, and most of my neighbors either work fulltime with kids or are retired/shut-in. After talking to my neighbor the other day, she commented on how she wasn't sure how she would vote because she has 4 rowdy kids and a husband that works an opposite shift and she didn't want to take them all to the poll with her so she said she wasn't voting this year and hoped Bush would win anyway. I offered to watch her kids so she would go and vote (for Bush). One of our neighbors is a senior citizen and not political at all....doesn't drive and is legally blind. I'm taking her to the poll tomorrow....she wants to vote for Bush and was sooo happy that someone would help her do that. Yes, she could have voted absentee...but some people are not able to fill out paperwork/open mail etc. If anyone has an older neighbor, don't assume he/she is voting absentee...ASK if they need help voting this year because the stakes are too high!!!
I THOUGHT that was you outside of my building.
Great post, BTW.
I already thought of this. I talked to a nice guy named Josh from the Florida Bush/Cheney campaign. He sent me 11 pages of phone #'s. I've started already, will be calling through tomorrow during work (I don't have much to do tomorrow, will mostly just be answering the phone)
I'm in a solidly Blue state (Washington), so I thought it would be more useful then calling people here.
Where do I get a cellphone call list? I would love to help!
I was called by the local Republican Women's Group today to get out my vote. The woman who called me was VERY surprised 1) that I was home, and 2) that I was SO enthusiastic about my support for GWB. She said "gosh I wish all of the people I was calling were as excited as you are!". HA!
Then, she secretly confessed that she was nervous about tomorrow, and thought that things didn't look good for the POTUS. So I riffed through about five up-to-the-minute polls that were linked right here at FR and she actually THANKED me for making HER day.
GOTV where you can...and remember: broken glass, people. Broken glass!
I used my cell phone to call the state headquarters here in MN and will be doing phone banks tonight! Every bit counts, so let's go!!!
I have nationwide free long distance on my cell phone. If somebody has a list of numbers to call in a swing state, freepmail me and I'll do what I can.
Another thing that might help. Anyone with a Bush bumper sticker who has the time should go to their local health food store or coop, and just hang out. Spend a lot of time shopping and browsing. I think it might stop some of the regular denizens of the largely left-wing health food establishments to see a lot of Bush support in their "stronghold." Just might make a difference.
great idea. My hubby distributed 30 lawn signs!!!
The cute little intern at my office asked for my help in filling out her absentee ballot. I managed to do so in spite of her bosom. I deserve a gold star.
I tried calling Dan Rather and it worked.
From Kerryspot...Bush will win, pretty decisively, Qui-Gon said. Maybe, worst case scenario, it's 51-49 [percent]. But everyone has looked at how the voters will decide too cerebrally. You walk into that voting booth, you pull the curtain behind you, and youre alone. Its the centerpiece of our democratic process, and voters take that responsibility seriously. Its almost a religious experience, a sacred rite. And theyre going to go with whos going to keep them safe. Whos been tested. Its an emotional, gut reaction.
I'be been saying this for two months to people I know, but not on FR. I was flip in a previous post PJ-Comix. Don't hold it against me. I live in Cook County. Forgot you guys live in FL.
I called 73 families from my XMAS card list (mostly NJ). Here are the results...
13 Voicemail - and no callback yet
37 Voting for Bush (25 of the 27, I got the woman of the house)
4 Split -
19 Kerry
I own 2 cell phones- got 2-3 calls asking me to vote for Bush on the one I've had the longest. One was from a pro-life group. Someone is calling cell phone owners- kewl.
