[snip]Mr. Kerry began the day by attending a service at Shiloh Baptist Church in Dayton, his fifth visit to a black Ohio congregation in as many weeks. He addressed the congregants with a veiled jab at Mr. Bush and the sincerity of his faith.
"There is a standard by which we have to live," he said. "Coming to church on Sundays and talking about faith and professing faith isn't the whole deal."
Mr. Kerry cited the New Testament, saying "faith without works is dead," and said it frustrated him to hear "politicians talk about values ... without actually valuing families the way we ought to."[snip]
Mr. Kerry took Communion at a Roman Catholic church service yesterday, the Church of the Holy Angels. Shortly after Mr. Kerry took his seat at the front of the church, a couple of churchgoers arose and walked out.
"I won't spend a moment with that man," said one woman, who disappeared before reporters could catch up with her.
After church, Mr. Kerry stopped at a field here and took off his coat, but not his tie, to toss the football with campaign aides traveling with him, including his former brother-in-law, David Thorne.[snip]
In the interview, Mr. Kerry was vague about national security and the war on terrorism apart from saying he "will get other people to the table."
"I know exactly what I want to do to get the job done, and I'm going to get the job done" in Iraq, he said. "I'm going to make America safer, and I have some very strong and real steps to take quite immediately to make that happen. I will make America safer."
But he said he is "not even going to begin to speculate on any military operation, or any timings of anything."

Said the man who had his first marriage annuled which leaves his kids where?
Do you realize that this violates the tenants of almost every protestant church and even (several years back) a new doctrine by the Catholic Church???
Faith is never dead. Basic christian doctrine.
Kerry still trying to nail down his black base--and Bush doing much better with blacks than in 2000??
"We are going to get this done. Let's make it happen. Let's walk in the footsteps of the Lord."
John Kerry is going to heal the wounds and walk in the footsteps of the Lord? If President Bush said this it would be further proof that he was a right wing religious extremist. John Kerry can say it because nobody believes he means it except these poor fools in a black church who don't realize he's just come calling for votes.
Good catch.
despicable and sad
An excellent explanation for those who are interested is here: http://www.carm.org/questions/faithorworks.htm
I for one am glad we have a candidate for the Presidency who is so serious about his faith that he is willing to campaign in a black church every single Sunday until after the election. Whatever it takes, right, John?
I sure wish we could have gotten the message out tactfuly somehow during this election,to the African-Americans the fact that Dem candidates "visit" black churches when they are "running". Cannot people see what they are there for???
They never visit after they win, lol. (or lose).
works without faith is nice, but you won't go to heaven
Let's see if we'e got this straight...an apostate Catholic, addressing a Black Protestant congregation for political gain, questioning his opponent's sincerity?!? (And in so doing, quoting scripture out of context and contradicting primary tenents of both Catholic and Protestant doctrine.)
HMMMMMMMM........!
He requested an annulment, we only assume it was granted. As for the kids, THEIR STATUS IS NOT AFFECTED as has been stated hundreds of times on this forum.
If Kerry were to get elected, I think he'd HAVE to be publicly excommunicated (he prolly already is in fact).
Hey Senator Kerry.
Next time you are preaching to a Black Church, try this quotation from the Bible.
2 Timothy, chapter 3
"1": This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
"2": For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
"3": Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
"4": Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
"5": Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
"6": For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
"7": Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
He can go back to his worthless life and play with his toys - and good riddance!!
Kerry said, politicking in church.
Communion for the six-time voter to keep "partial-birth abortion" legal?
Unite the nation?
Lying on full-auto, the unconcealed Kerry.

Do you realize that this violates the tenants of almost every protestant church and even (several years back) a new doctrine by the Catholic Church???
i am not sure i understand your point. i think i can corroborate kerry's statement with james 2:14-16 "what good is it my brothers if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds..."
why are your questioning kerry's statementas not being the bibically based?
i am amazed at how kerry will use the bible to suite his political needs.
You've nailed it. What's to become of such politicking we'll see soon!
Read the link in #7
LOL!
The hypocrisy is sickening.
