Honestly, I'm the less optimistic right now than I have been the whole campaign.

Are the latest numbers on the left or right in the demographics?

Do not be.

President Bush will win Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

In your lifetime of following politics, have you ever heard of a Gallup poll in which they had "likely" voters, "registered" voters, and "our assumptions based on trends of the last election on how likely voters will vote" catagories. I haven't. All I've ever heard of is registered voters and likely voters. Bush holds a 2 point lead among likely voters. That is about where I think he's been all year. And that is 2 points higher than he won the last election. I'll take it.

I actually am more optimistic, and I am a real poll watcher, and even did some graduate work of polls some time ago.

This weekend, the polls should have gone against Bush (weekend polls go 3-4% against Repubs, weekday polls 3-4% for Repubs).

The fact that Bush is still ahead by 2% on average means he is actually polling by at least 4% above Kerry.

Great news. Now its all about turnout.

ditto for me...I felt great this morning but then the skins lost today and CNN has the President down in Ohio and Fl. As much as I actually despise the MSM I don't think Gallup is going to skew the numbers.

There is a lot to be done...I pray to God the outcome is the right one...it is going to be a very anxious 48-hours for many of us!! Keep praying!

Thanks for the analysis.

Now explain your feeling low. Come on, get it out, ya big lug! Are you basing all of your thoughts and feelings about the race on this one poll?

You mean one poll (Bush 49-47 LV) based on a weekend results, while Kerry defends states he should be winning, and a Kerry source inside campaign leaks to AP that Bush has the momentum and numbers, has got you feeling at your lowest point in the campaign?

Check your blood sugar, may need a candy bar.

You know Gallup probably better than anyone, so let me ask you the following question: how good is their track record in state by state polling? If Gallup says that Bush now leads nationally by only two points among LVs, I can accept that (although I think that the actualy lead is probably closer to three points). But I am not so sure about their state by state polling, especially when compared with the Mason Dixon polls. I would appreciate your thoughts. TIA.
