To me, fasting is about denying yourself something that you desire, in order to more fully focus you mind on God. When I fast every time I get a hunger pain, I pray..it is not fun to fast...I love to eat!! But I can deny myself for one day.

We have been praying for our President Bush for four years, actually five, when he was running the first time.
Please don't take this as sacriligeous, but I feel that, since our Nation's birth, God has blessed our beautiful country more than any other on earth, and if He still loves our country, then President Bush will win by a large margin.
If God no longer loves our country, then John Kerry will win.
Yes, for us Catholics, the Rosary is a very powerful prayer!
Please Lord, thwart all who would be dishonest in this election. Raise up President Bush and this country to do your will. Amen

You have made us to give complements to You and give You all the credit. That we are doing right now.
You have made Your commandments clear. Your instructions are clear. Tonight, we openly admit, as individuals and especially as a nation, we have not followed your commandments. We have erred. Yet even while we turn to you tonight, we repent. We call out to You!! Hear us and do not send us away empty handed. Our nation is in trouble. We have murdered so many innocants in the uterus. Homosexuality and other perverted sexual behaviors have become openly accepted into our culture. Dishonest, cheating men and women are popular and admired by many. There are consequences for our sins, even as You have told us there would be. We are seeing those sickening consequences now. If we don't repent, as You have told us, things will get worse, much worse.
This election on Tuesday will not be the end of our problems. Even if President Bush wins, and for this we do beseech You, Oh Holy One, even if President Bush wins, we are still in trouble. But we, your beloved United States of America, may have a better chance to do the right things before You, to work on this war against militant Islam, the economy, education, all these serious problems, if You allow President Bush to remain as our president. With the polls so close, with our nation so divided, it appears tonight, President Bush may be defeated on Tuesday. May Your will be done.
Yet, Our reward no matter what happens is this...that You are glorified and complemented in our sacrafice of prayer. We are serving You, and You alone. Thus, our prayers are answered even at this moment as we pray to You. Even though we do not feel it, we already now recieve our reward. How great You are!

Amen. Father let those who do not yet know in their hearts what vote to cast, go into the polling station with a quiet prayer on their lips, Your will on their minds and let them vote from that standpoint.
That is always and only what Christian brothers can ask for.

I agree completely with this statement. Praying that Gods will be done is good and the right thing to do.
But in this case, Gods will in it's basic form is obvious. God wills that unborn children be given the chance to live and praise him. God wills that a man and a woman unite in marriage and produce children to praise him. God wills that old folks live out thier lives and die in Gods time not Jack Kevorkians time. Our purpose on this earth is to be born, live for Christ, praise him in all we do, spread the good new of Gods salvation through Jesus Christ, and than to die and join him in heaven...so simple, yet so hard for so many people.
Dear Lord...I am specifically asking that you grant this nation the mercy and grace that we do not deserve. I am asking you to forgive the church for sleeping. I am asking that you show favor to your servents on Tuesday. I am not only asking that your will be done, but I am asking that your servent George W Bush would be allowed to continue to lead this nation for 4 more years. We believe that he is your servent and that you placed him in his position for a reason. We believe that he seeks you and your will, and we ask your grace, mercy and peace be on him. Grant him rest, and a steadfast spirit. We believe that satan has his own plans for this nation and he does not want your servent in control. We ask that you would bind the evil one, that you would touch the heart of your people and grant the President the victory, but not only a victory, but a landslide. You say, in your word, ask and you will receive. We ask all this in the name of your son Jesus Christ and we claim the victory. Amen...

I can see that. One meal wouldn't be significant for me though. Sometimes I go to the afternoon before eating. Now skipping eating from 5 to bedtime would hurt:')

My prayers are definately going up to our almighty father, I pray for a Bush victory, not just a victory but a decisive one. In all things Lord may thy will be done.

I have a feeling the terrorists in Iraq are going for a big kill in the next 2 days in order to influence our elections. (they know Bush poll numbers--thanks to the MSM--are low in re: to the Iraq war)
I know we all are praying for our military in Afghanistan and Iraq. But let's put it up a notch that God will foil their wicked plans.
I pray that God's will be done, and that He continue to bless this great nation.

Lord, thank you that we live in a republic where we can choose wise and noble men to run our country. Speak to America through you Holy Spirit. Lord use our broken and limited humnan capacitites to give us a clear winner. Have mercy on this imperfect nation and give us a president who will honor and glorify You. Thank you Lord.
