O Lord,
watch over all our people
out there, far from home,
faced with an implacable enemy,
doing the work of bringing freedom
to those crushed under a tyrant's foot.

Keep them safe, O Lord,
as they do their work,
sometimes unappreciated,
but such important work
that brings the light
to the oppressed
and brings safety
out of others' hate.
