Kerry Campaign's New Low

KERRY CAMPAIGN’S NEW LOW
Willing To Say Anything To Get Elected, Kerry Campaign Falsely Claims President Is Creating Terrorists
______________________________________________________________________

KERRY SURROGATE CALLS PRESIDENT
AL QAEDA’S “BEST RECRUITER”

Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA) Said “Bin Laden Is Trying To Help George Bush Because George Bush Is The Best Recruiter That Al Qaeda Has.”  FOX NEWS’ CHRIS WALLACE: “Governor Rendell, let me ask you both but I’ll start with you, how much impact do you think the Bin Laden tape is going to have with voters in your state and which candidate will it help?”  GOV. ED RENDELL:  “Well, I think it’s actually not going to have much effect.  If it helps anybody, it will help the president because it’s just another reminder of the fact that we’re at war and we’re fighting terrorists and that’s the only card that the president has in his hand.  But it’s obvious to me that Bin Laden is trying to help George Bush because George Bush is the best recruiter that Al Qaeda has.  George Bush is so disliked in the Arab world that we’re creating terrorists every single day.  More terrorists than we can even come close to killing.”  (Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday,” 10/31/04)

Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA): “George Bush Is Al Qaeda’s Best Recruiting Tool Not Only In Iraq But All Around The World.”  (Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday,” 10/31/04)

TERRORISTS WERE ON THE ATTACK
BEFORE PRESIDENT BUSH TOOK OFFICE

Rising Threat Of Terrorist Attack On United States Began With 1993 Bombing Of World Trade Center.  On February 26, 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed by Islamic extremists operating from Brooklyn and New Jersey. Six people were killed, and hundreds were injured. The inquiry into that attack “revealed a weakness in the immigration system used by one of the terrorists, but that hole was never plugged, and it was exploited by one of the Sept. 11 hijackers.”  (Judith Miller, Jeff Gerth and Don Van Natta Jr., “Planning For Terror But Failing To Act,” The New York Times, 12/30/01)

Terrorists Were Responsible For Deaths Of 18 American Soldiers In Somalia.  “Nine months later in Somalia, Mohammed Farah Aideed’s militiamen, who were trained by al Qaeda, killed 18 American soldiers and dragged their bodies through the streets of Mogadishu.”  (Editorial, “Demagoguing September 11,” The Washington Times, 5/21/02)

In June 1996, Terrorists Attack U.S. Personnel In Saudi Arabia.  “At about 10:00 p.m. on June 25, 1996, a tanker truck loaded with at least 5,000 pounds of plastic explosives was driven into the parking lot in front of the Khobar Towers residential complex in Dhahran. Moments later a massive explosion sheared the face off of Building 131, an eight-story structure which housed about 100 U.S. Air Force personnel.”  (U.S. Department Of Justice, “Khobar Towers Indictment,” Press Release, 6/21/01)

October 1996: Bin Laden Publicly Declares War On U.S. For First Time.  “It is the duty of every tribe in the Arabian peninsula to fight jihad and cleanse the land from these Crusader occupiers. Their wealth is booty to those who kill them.”  (Osama Bin Laden As Quoted In Richard Miniter, Losing Bin Laden, 2003, p. 161)

ü      Between February 1997 And May 1998, Bin Laden Declared War On U.S. Four More Times.  (Osama Bin Laden As Quoted In Richard Miniter, Losing Bin Laden, 2003, p. 161; Fatwa Issued By Bin Laden-Controlled World Islamic Front As Quoted In Richard Miniter, Losing Bin Laden, 2003, p. 161; Osama Bin Laden As Quoted In Richard Miniter, Losing Bin Laden, 2003, . 162; Osama Bin Laden As Quoted In Richard Miniter, Losing Bin Laden, 2003, p. 163)

In August 1998, Bin Laden Struck Two American Embassies In Kenya And Tanzania, Killing 224 People.  “[O]n Aug. 7, 1998, when truck bombs were detonated outside the United States embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, killing 224 people, including 12 Americans, and injuring more than 5,000.”  (Judith Miller, Jeff Gerth and Don Van Natta Jr., “Planning For Terror But Failing To Act,” The New York Times, 12/30/01)

“In October 2000, Two Attackers On A Small Boat Carrying Up To 500lb (225 Kg) Of High Explosives Rammed Into The USS Cole As It Was Refuelling In Aden Port.  Seventeen American Sailors Were Killed, And At Least 40 People Were Wounded.”  (“Six Charged Over USS Cole Attack,” BBC News, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3872555.stm, 7/7/04)

Al Qaeda-Linked Zarqawi Network Was Based In Baghdad Before War Began.  CIA DIRECTOR GEORGE TENET: “[P]art of this Zarqawi network in Baghdad are two dozen Egyptian Islamic jihad which is indistinguishable from al Qaeda – operatives who are aiding the Zarqawi network, and two senior planners who have been in Baghdad since last May. Now, whether there is a base or whether there is not a base, they are operating freely, supporting the Zarqawi network that is supporting the poisons network in Europe and around the world. So these people have been operating there. And, as you know – I don't want to recount everything that Secretary Powell said, but as you know a foreign service went to the Iraqis twice to talk to them about Zarqawi and were rebuffed. So there is a presence in Baghdad that is beyond Zarqawi.”  (CIA Director George Tenet, Select Committee On Intelligence, U.S. Senate, Testimony, 2/11/03)

NOW TERRORISTS ARE ON THE RUN

“We Are Staying On The Offensive – Striking Terrorists Abroad – So We Do Not Have To Face Them Here At Home.”  (President George W. Bush, Remarks To Republican National Convention, New York, NY, 9/2/03)

“[M]ore Than Three-Quarters Of Al-Qaeda’s Key Members And Associates Have Been Detained Or Killed.”  (President George W. Bush, Remarks To Republican National Convention, New York, NY, 9/2/03)

ü      Experts Agree Al Qaeda’s Senior Ranks Have Been “Substantially Depleted.”  “Most terror experts agree with official claims that counterterrorism efforts have substantially depleted al Qaeda's senior ranks. … [Of] 29 operatives identified by experts and by the U.S. government as key Qaeda members. Sixteen are in custody, four are believed dead, and nine remain at large.”  (Council On Foreign Relations Terrorism: Questions & Answers Website, “How Much Of Al Qaeda's Leadership Has Been Captured Or Killed?” http://cfrterrorism.org/home/, Accessed 10/20/04)

There Are Two Fewer Terrorist Regimes Threatening America And Democracy Is Reaching New Places.  “Because we acted to defend our country, the murderous regimes of Saddam Hussein and the Taliban are history, more than 50 million people have been liberated, and democracy is coming to the broader Middle East.” (President George W. Bush, Remarks To Republican National Convention, New York, NY, 9/2/03)

Afghanistan Has Had Free And Fair Elections For First Time In 5,000 Years.  “More than 10 million Afghans will have the opportunity to cast ballots to choose their president on Saturday, in the first direct election for head of state in the nation's 5,000-year history. Three years ago, few predicted that Afghans could reach this historic milestone. Yet with the world's assistance, they have seized the moment and are now poised to take another major stride toward joining the ranks of the world's democratic nations.”  (Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, Op-Ed, “A 5,000-Year First,” The Wall Street Journal, 10/7/04)

“Four Years Ago … Pakistan Was A Transit Point For Terrorist Groups … Today … Pakistan Is Capturing Terrorist Leaders …”  (President George W. Bush, Remarks To Republican National Convention, New York, NY, 9/2/03)

“Four Years Ago … Saudi Arabia Was Fertile Ground For Terrorist Fundraising … Today … Saudi Arabia Is Making Raids And Arrests …”  (President George W. Bush, Remarks To Republican National Convention, New York, NY, 9/2/03)

“We Continue To Pursue Our Policy Of Disrupting Those Who Proliferate Weapons Of Mass Destruction.  Libya Has Disarmed.  The A.Q. Khan Network Has Been Brought To Justice.”   (President George W. Bush, First Presidential Debate, Coral Gables, FL, 9/30/04)

Ed Rendell (D-PA) is probably the nation's most corrupt governor. He is beyond dreadful.

Rendell is getting desperate... He's on the ground; he's seeing how Kerry is losing support fast.

The RNC should have mentioned what was in the NY Post today - that part of that OBL tape includes him mentioning that they are on the run, the military campaign against them has been successful and he is disappointed there wasn't violence in Afghanistan during the election there.
