I'll assume that you have WinXP. Load msconfig.exe to your C:WINDOWS\system32 directory (you can find it on the Net) and uncheck playdrv.exe in the Startup tab. Apply, and restart.
This will kill the startup autoload, and then you can research the Google links provided by Musket.
