Drier's opponent MS. Matthews

"As a United States Representative for the 26th Congressional District, I will fight for the protection and constitutional rights of every American. I will diligently work towards peaceful resolutions without endangering the lives of our troops and fellow Americans, while working to improve Veteran’s benefits and job security. I will fight to protect our labor related issues such as health care benefits, living wages, and retirement. I will support environmental conservation efforts to preserve our natural resources and fight for our children’s right to quality education. I will defend a woman’s right to choose. I will protect rights for gays, lesbians, transgender, transsexual and bisexual persons. I will protect the rights of handicap persons. I will protect senior citizen’s right to access adequate and quality health care, which is of the utmost importance. The beauty of this nation lies with its diversity of people in its kaleidoscope of ethnicities, creeds, and colors. I will defend and protect the inalienable rights of “all.”"

Dreier isn't unique.

For your perusal and consideration – a passage from the present DHS funding bill in Congress. This became public knowledge here in Cochise County today; I leave the reaction to your imagination.

Provided further, That none of the funds appropriated in this Act may be obligated to construct permanent Border Patrol checkpoints in the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection’s Tucson sector. [This applies only to the Tucson sector, right now the busiest and most out of control and nowhere else.]

Provided further, That the Commissioner, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, is directed to submit to the Committees on Appropriations of the Senate and House of Representatives a plan for expenditure that includes location, design, costs, and benefits of each proposed Tucson sector permanent checkpoint. [Welcome to a review process that Methuselah couldn't outlive.]

Provided further, That the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection shall relocate its tactical checkpoints in the Tucson sector at least an average of once every 14 days in a manner designed to prevent persons subject to inspection from predicting the location of any such checkpoint. [Move that checkpoint so the cheap labor and drug shipments can move. You're interfering with commerce.]

This language courtesy of our very own Log Cabin RINO, Jim Kolbe. He lost a lot of votes today.

My cell phone has done a couple of week's worth of duty since this morning -- being vice president of the local Republican Club can be less than pleasant at times, though I did learn some interesting and colorful phrases today.

Kolbe is about five words shy of being turned into a human piñata.

You crawl out from under your rock every two years or so, to spew against the GOP.

Pelham, you're so friggin' predictable.

And before you accusing me of being an out-of-stater, I was born and raised in California, my parents still live there, and I visit frequently

Relax, that dude lives in Texas. He's just one of the "one thousand miles away" experts on California politics that post here.

Hugh Hewitt referred to John & Ken as "political dummies" this afternoon. I agree.

Pinky, so good to hear from you. You're always the soul of graciousness and good manners.

Sorry if I outed you for being the out-of-touch Texan preaching about local California politics. Feel free to go back to fooling the newbies.

Hugh Hewitt, the perennial Class President? The Ohio carpet bagger who will never deign to discuss immigration issues? What a shock to learn he is offended by the crass cynics John and Ken.

You dopeheads who think that the Democrat Matthews will be better than Drier are clueless.

There you go again attacking straw men. No one is under any illusions that Matthews will be better. Putting her into office is not the purpose of this campaign. J&K and others are trying to demonstrate to the GOP leadership that they must change their position on immigration or face political extinction.

So yes, we lose one GOP congressman in the process for some leftist fruitcake. That's a real cost and no one's denying it. But it's not a particularly high cost considering that a congressman's elected for only 2 years, and he's one among over 400. If it helps change the GOP leadership, it's well worth it.

You're being very myopic in your thinking. You can't seem to look any further into the future than the current election.

Yeah, she's a leftist fruitcake. So what else is new?

But if she's elected, she's just one of 400+. And she's only in office for two years. Big deal. That's a small price to pay for getting the GOP leadership to rethink it's position on immigration. You've got to think further ahead than merely this election.

Cut your feet off next and ask why you then have trouble walking.

Sacrificing one guy out of some 250 is hardly akin to "cutting off my feet."

It is a cost, to be sure, but one well worth paying. The GOP can afford one less seat in the House. One seat isn't going to give control to the dems. On the other hand, the GOP cannot afford our current immigration policy, which is importing Democrat voters in droves.

I listened to a little bit of their show this evening and they had a huge crowd at Drier's HQ's -- unfortunately for Drier when he filed that lawsuit last week it really got people fired up... the way I look at it (right or wrong): someone has to take a stand on the illegal immigration issue. Drier losing will send a tidel wave across this nation and, in the end, could do more good than bad.

He's also firmly NAFTA, etc... and even before J&K's thing I was less than enthralled with Congressman Drier.

They were also asking people to come out and sign petitions -- one of which was to return the cross to the LA City Hall (the one the ACLU made them cover up that has been there forever!)

Let's face it: we do not want to be taken for granted, even by a Republican...

It's not thinking the Dem will be better -- it's about a Republican that thinks he has a lifetime job and the hell with the people who put him there... Unless you live in a Southwestern State you may or maynot realize just how bad it's become (illegal immigration).

First J&K tried to get Asa Hutchinson to do something -- all he did was try to get Clear Channel to fire them -- so then they decided to do the sacrafice and all the Southern Congressmen showed up at the station to take calls EXCEPT Drier and the other guy (a Dem) so they chose to sacrafice both of them 1 Dem and 1 Republican.

Then last week they were hit with the lawsuit and that only ramped them up all the more. I no longer live in So. Cal, but support what they are doing because it's time someone in the Media stands up for us, the voters and Citizens and that is what J&K are doing and drawing huge crowds to their outdoor broadcasts as a result.

I know JB. Seems to be quite a few Dreier types. Hopefully, most will start wising up to these hacks. People like Dreier and Kolbe are very entrenched and protected by the Rhino heard. Dreier will be going on about 25 years of taxpayer paid incomes, homes, pools, luxury cars, with a fat pensions waiting for him, win or lose.

Cute: You completely ignore the rest of my message, including the part -- immediately after where you ceased quoting -- where I said that going after Dreier in the primary would have been fair game (because, unlike their current stunt that you're obediently sheeping along to, it doesn't risk installing a hard-to-remove Democrat).

Don't waste my time if all you are going to do is baaa. (Or, rather, bray.)

And she's only in office for two years.

Yeah, right. That's what was said about Adam Schiff when he beat Jim Rogan. Schiff is still in office, voting along with Berman, Sherman and Waxman. You're dreaming. Get Dreier out in the primary, or else hold your nose and vote anti-Democrat in the general (i.e., vote for Dreier). (Y'know, I've checked, and guess what? We've held primaries in House races for 200+ years ... long before EVEN JOHN AND KEN.)
