Perhaps this is why Bush and Rove are so confident in winning. If Kerry happens to get close enough to challenge the vote in court, they trot out this little gem that under the constitution, Kerry cannot become president...game over. The supreme court cannot decide anything other than what is specifically stated in the US Constitution...Kerry will never be president.

Or perhaps this is why NavyCHIEF was asked to back off the related protest event. What would happen to the election process if Kerry were forced out of the picture (i.e., ineligible for the office) right now?

At the very least, the outcome would be chaotic, especially with so many early ballots already cast. What would they do, postpone the election? Drop Kerry and run Edwards (or, ugh, HRC) in his place? Declare the whole thing null and void, and award a second term to our President by default? Can you imagine the whining and howling from the Left?

The President has a war to tend to, a people to protect, and a country to run. Surely he doesn't need a mess like this to contend with in the 2004 three-ring election. And how would he ever get the Dems on board after a last-minute swipe (valid or not) that took out their candidate in the final 96 hours?

Much better to get out the vote, let Kerry continue to sink his own campaign, and let Bush win on the positive note against all odds and all cheat tactics. And after that, perhaps a proper investigation can be opened up to bring out the truth and assign accountability where it's due. Surely names are being taken.
