BUSH HAS THE MO [KJL]
That's the GOP message tonight as they work to the ends of the continental U.S. and beyond--to Honolulu!! Bush/Cheney is confident this Saturday night. They believe these last days will prove they have made significant inroads throughout the U.S. at the grassroots level. Starting yesterday, 150,000 volunteers are working in the tightest states, contacting 18 million voters to get out the vote for W. They say theyve registered 3.4 million more Republicans since the last presidential election. That those GOTVers are volunteers, too, they say is significant.
In Florida aloneon Friday aloneGOP officials say volunteers knocked on 170,000 doors and made 200,000 calls. Though E Day they expect those numbers to hit 17,000 volunteers will 800,000 doors and 1.2 million calls. Just in Florida, a state where theyve been confident for more than a few days now. But its not lackluster in Ohio either. GOP officials are saying 14,000 volunteers will knock on 400,000 doors and make 990,000 calls.

See also "The Kerry Spot" at NRO for more inside info from the Bush team: http://www.nationalreview.com/kerry/kerryspot.asp
The campaigns already have their final strategies in place, which are by now apparent to everyone. From now on, the campaigns will shower us with inside information, especially GOTV assessments and internal polling. It looks like the Bush campaign has the positive "buzz" going into next week, so it will fun.
The next attack with be a military smear. Tomorrow's 60 Minutes program is to highlight problems with armored vehicles. The main point: Bush is sending these kids into battle and their vehicles are getting blown up because they aren't heavily armored.
Don't expect them to say that Kerry voted against the $87 appropriation.
I don't care what the internals show, I think it's great that he's still campaigning.
Despite those vaunted 2000 internals, he lost the popular vote and barely won in the EC. I'd rather he keep on running hard until the last minute.
Awww, c'mon!
Go read that link to "The Kerry Spot" up top.
The messages and signals coming out of the two campaigns could NOT be more different this last weekend. Kerry's big mo guy, Sasso, blows up at Fox News last night and demands the Fox reporter be thrown off the campaign plane. All over some inane remark made by Neil Cavuto! Does that sound like a "happy" campaign?
Here's what the headlines are going to say after Bush wins and news organizations have had time to read the tea leaves:
--Bush turned out EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS in unprecedented numbers.
--More CONSERVATIVE DEMS crossed over than any polls predicted, return of the Reagan Democrats. Except now they'll be "Dubya Dems".
--RURAL VOTERS swarmed to the polls to support Bush and marriage-protection amendments.
Mark this post. I'm pretty certain that's the way it's going to go.
We have our own lawyers. I've already heard from sources in IA and WI not only to expect a win, but to expect the GOP lawyers to already be in action the minute the win is announced. Rove is, and has been, totally on top of this.
Yeah, but it's crap that Kerry has 100,000 lawyers, blah, blah.
That would be damn near as many lawyers as there are combat troops in Iraq!!
2,000 lawyers draining out of every state would be a massive story in the MSM, and so far, I've seen zero confirmation of any such thing outside of DNC PR.
Don't be scared of a bunch of bottom feeders. GOTV!
Nor do I recall the liberal media reporting that Clinton and Aspin ignored calls for heavier armor in Mogadishu before Black Hawk Down, courtesy of bin Laden ally Aidid.
And don't forget the Amish in Pa... They surely are not polled, but a lot are going to vote!
Compare what the two said yesterday:
Kerry: "Wake up America!" (subtext: what's wrong with you morons?)
Bush in Ohio: "The outcome is in capable hands: YOURS" (subtext: I respect you)
Nobody has stopped campaigning. Quite the contrary, this time, everything has been built around a giant crescendo in these last hours. It's gonna be a BIG win.
Does anyone know if the media called the polls "close" the year that Reagan swept every state but one?
Funny, I remember him on the trail right up to the end...
He preferred to hit a few big contributors up for the funds to pay a professional company to make the calls.(But that was Texas where there was no spending/contribution limits)
It's very burdensome on the paid party/campaign staff to train volunteers to set up centers. In fact he hired a professional company to coordinate the volunteers. It's expensive renting space in each city and installing phones. The 4 part paper forms are expensive.
Volunteers aren't dependable. Even if you manage to complete all the calls before Eday using 80 volunteers who averaged four hours apiece, on Eday only a handful show up for the GOTV calls so the whole effort was wasted. Most of the volunteer phoners are serving as election clerks or watchers on Eday.
Then after the election, every volunteer who put in two hours expects to receive a $120,000 government job.
A phone bank out of India is cheaper and more dependable.
Still we should all express our appreciation for the work of volunteers.
I live in NE Ohio: Kerry territory. Seems everyone I talk to is voting for Bush. Suddenly, (today) 3 more Bush signs on my street. Kerry might be suprised.
Any info on how well the GOP church registering strategy worked with conservative Christians?
completely agree! Bush is going to win by more than any of the polls are predicting. People are passionate about him and this election.
I certainly was not implying he should stop campaigning now or back in 2000 either.
Kerry plans to hit Milwaukee, Detroit and Cleveland on Monday. That's where he still needs to vote mine?
Here's a thread about the Kerry insider saying to an AP reporter that their internals show Bush leading and gaining momentum.
I meant to put a "?" after Ron Fornier. I simply read this in the AP article. Another poster on another thread said they read it in a Fornier report. The two may be the same.
