PARIS (AP) _ Respected French daily Le Monde on Saturday broke its own tradition of not taking sides in foreign elections by endorsing John Kerry in next Tuesday's U.S. election.
In an editorial, the paper said the exceptional stakes of this election make Kerry the desirable choice ``beyond the borders of the United States.''
It lauded Kerry's ``internationalist'' view of the world, his ``ability to recognize his own errors'' and his foreign policy experience.
Le Monde said President George W. Bush has undermined ``the rules of law on which American democracy is founded'' and ignored ``the international architecture'' that has been in place for the past 50 years.
Kerry should be elected, Le Monde said, ``so that Europe and the United States have a chance to start over together. And so that the White House will be occupied by a team no longer guided by good and evil but by law and justice.''
Great news! - Let's try and get Drudge to post a link on his site!
If it's so respected, why do they feel the need to tell us that in the article? And respected according to whom?
Now that Le Monde has weighed in we are DOOOOOOOOOMED!
Oui Oui!
Silly me...I always assumed that law and justice were based on being able to differentiate between good and evil.
How can you identify a French soldier?
Sunburned armpits!
Oh yea, that oughta help.
What with "Le Monde" and Osama bin Ladin endorsing Kerry, what's a poor voter to do?:)

"Ze magazine, La France, Iran and Mr. Arafat
all support me. Vote for moi."

Telling distinction. Yeah, there's such "justice" in making filthy oil deals with Saddam Hussein.
Le Monde...le ca-ca...
Their skerry "endorsement" appeared right next to a french army surplus sale"...."for sale (cheap) 150,000 french army rifles - never fired and only dropped once"
If this gets more publicity, I'd be grateful.
Le Monde is indeed one of France's most respected newspapers, more or less on a par with The New York Times.
That should tell us what to think of this endorsement.
It all depends who does the respecting.
With OBL's, Arafat's and now Le Monde's endorsement, Kerry will lose another 5% of the electorate.
