"Hard to tell from the article if it was an actual professor or just a TA. TAs, I'd imagine are much easier to get rid of."

What should their position matter? IF this is a teacher, or a TA, or a janitor, or the school president they should be fired immediately, without question.

I don't think it matters, I'm just pointing out that it'd be harder to fire a professor in (previously) good standing than it would be to fire a TA.

Hypothetically, if Larry Sabato at UVA were to do what the instructor in the article did, do you think he'd be fired? Most likely, a demand for an apology would be the most that'd come out of it. Or, to take an actual example, what about Professor Nicholas "Mogadishu" DeGenova over at Columbia? Last I heard, he was still around, despite some calls for him to be fired.
