Kerry urges unity in war against terrorism

APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — Presidential challenger John Kerry urged voters on Saturday not to allow the videotaped message from Osama bin Laden to stir up partisan feelings. "As Americans we are absolutely united, all of us. There are no Democrats, there are no Republicans," Kerry said. "As Americans we are united in our determination to destroy, capture, kill Osama bin Laden and all of the terrorists. They are barbarians, and we are going to hunt them down and we will make America safe."

Kerry did not dwell on the new message from the al-Qaida leader, other than to repeat his charge that President Bush allowed bin Laden to escape in the Afghan mountains in late 2001. He concentrated his final weekend appeal on voters who have suffered under Bush's economic and military leadership.

"In three days, a woman or a husband is going to walk into that polling booth and they're going to think about their spouse that left to go to Iraq months ago, maybe close to a year ago," Kerry said. "And they're going to wonder how long that spouse is going to have to stay in Iraq, and the kids are going to be wondering, 'Daddy, Mommy, when are you coming home? Are you coming home?'"

Kerry said his election will give soldiers in Iraq "the leadership and the hope that they need and to get them home."

Then went on to his partisan attack concerning bin Laden.

...and we are going to hunt them down and we will make America safe."

But we're going to cut and run in Iraq.

LOL This is so transparent. "Don't let this scare you into voting for Bush! I mean, I'm tough too!"

Oh, is that all...just blaming the President that he is on the loose and able to make threats. It's so nice to see Kerry's new nonpartisan tone.

I would love to ask Kerry how he feels about the near 20 years the unibomber was on the loose. For that matter Osama still has several years before he catches up with Eric Rudolph.

According to many of his followers, there is no terrorist threat .... so its gonna be kind of hard to unify his own supporters behind fighting terrorism.

Duh.

I've slowly come to the opinion that Jean Francois Kerri is an even lower form of DNA than Slick Willie.

Unity??? Sorry Kerry but I do not associate with known traitors. Anyone who defames the honor of our men & women in uniform such as you is deserving of a traitor's death. There is nothing on the face of this earth that would EVER make me feel anything except utter revulsion for you, let alone unity...

It is laughable to see Kerry on the news promising to KILL the terrorists. At the same time the DNC has anti-Bush ads saying Bush got us into an unwinnable war.

Why does the new Osama tape sound like a Kerry campaign speech? Same Michael Moore talking points. Truly disgusting. Kerry should be ashamed. Oh, I forgot, he is used to betraying his country.

He will fight this war the same way he fought the Cong. Kerry went to Paris, met with the Viet Cong, obtained their terms for our surrender and returned to present them to Congress. I believe he is telling the truth. He would "fight" this war the same way.

I don't see how he's going to do that when he doesn't respect them now. Remember, he's the one who said, "Wrong war, wrong place, wrong time." Just shut up Kerry, the soldiers hate you and they love Bush. Try to step into reality.....if you can.

Unity? You mean like what you did to your Band of Brothers who were still serving in Vietnam? Shove your version of "unity" where the sun don't shine...

I know they'll still vote for him, but the Deaniacs and Kucinichkeviks must grit their teeth every time Francois gets disingenuous like this.

Funny you should say that. That's what I was thinking yesterday too. Unbelievable, ain't it?

The Kerry "Can't we all just get along" angle. Followed by bitter partisan attacks.

"the leadership and the hope that they need and to get them home."

So they can die in fear and poverty in what is left of the United States, instead of standing on their feet defending their country against it's enemies.
