There is nothing wrong with being a sports fan, but I think that our society is obsessed with sports and other forms of entertainment. Maybe it is a form of laziness. I am amazed that my friends put all their time and energy into following sports and know nothing about politics, economics, etc. We as citizens have an obligation to put some time into making sure that we elect good leaders and that we understand what direction our country should take. That takes some effort on our part. End of rant.
Don't forget the NYTimes last week with that column urging us to put 9/11 right out of our minds! Never happened. No biggie. Vote for socialized everything and the UN in control. Yes, the elitist media and pals think we're mindless cattle.
There are millions of us all living the same life. Talk radio and FR keeps us sane. Thank God and Jim.
It would take the courts a decade or more to sort out the mess that is heading our way. I'm afraid Bush will concede rather than place the nation in a Constitutional crisis.
We are already in a crisis, one that must be addressed, and should have been addressed before this election cycle.
Outstanding post. Kerry and the MSM will both be rejected soundly at the voting booth on Tuesday.
Kerry is Osama's man, Bush is mine.
GREETINGS FELLOW FREEPER!
Yes, as a nation we are almost all that stupid.
EXCELLENT!!! Distribute to all of Our Left Leaning Contacts and friends.
In these last hours, PLEASE GO DOWN TO YOUR COUNTY REPUBLICAN HEADQUARTERS AND HELP CALL VOTERS, GET OUT THE VOTE and HELP OUR PRESIDENT LEAD US TO VICTORY!!!!
YOU CAN AND WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
Beautiful!
This "obession" is the product of endless hype of sports (particularly the "professional" variety), entertainment (the "cult of celebrity" anyone), and other pablum. This is not a coincidence.
"Bread and circuses" did much to destroy the ancient Roman Republic, and these things are a deliberate infusion of "circuses" (mindless entertainment to distract the populace form the issues of the day), in a deliberate attempt to weaken, then destroy, the American Republic, in order to put something less wholesome in its place...
the infowarrior
"what really bummed me out during the debates was sKerry saying that he would immediately stop work on the bunker busting weapons being developed (with NKorea's nukes in mind?)...what an absolutely stupid thing to say!! What an absolutely stupid thing to do!!!! "
Me too! That is huge, in my opinion, and is not getting very much attention. The other thing he wants to eliminate that I think is a big mistake is the anti-missile defense shield (did I say that right?). He also mentioned that in the first debate, I believe. Now why get rid of that program? And nobody is talking about that!
Wouldn't it be great if we could all get together somehow for a great big party?
Ok i have been busy working so what is MSM? sorry for being dumb....
"Wake up people, wake up." - Kerry
Bravo.
